OK, this keeps coming up in different places, so I'd like to set things straight. I (Freebird) was never banned from this forum (as Doug can attest) but left on my own free will for the good of the forum and as a favor to Doug. It had become an "us" vs "them" deal with the membership, and that wasn't working.

I look at how much this forum has changed since I stopped posting under that username, and now I have to wonder what all the fuss was about in the first place. No doubt I got a bit carried away in the ealier months of my joining this forum, but I never used the F word or made personal attacks on other members. My, how times have changed.

I came back as Sparky and explained how that happened. Now here's a question for the membership (I'd post a poll but don't know how), should Freebird return or should ole' Sparky stick around?

So there you have it... more drivel from the master.

I been meaning too ask the same question about going back to Freebird!

My answer is

Yes

I got a free bird for ya right here LOL. It's next to the finger that is getting used to this new ring :)

You should just change your name to "OwnsTooManyHatts"

"OwnsTooManyHatts"... has a nice, indian-like ring to it. That might work considering I'm part Cherokee. :D

I agree. You are active here on the HOF and are no longer trying to hide it, so why not use your own name? You have adapted your posting style to one that is more appropriate (whatever that means lol) for this forum and much less abrasive than it once was. I see no reason why you should not use Freebird as long as your future posts are still in the more recent "Sparky1" style than the OLD Freebird style.

I would also politely request that you (and everyone) pick one screen name here and stick to just that one so we won't have to wonder who posted what in the future.

One thing is for sure: this forum is certainly more entertaining with Randy around, no matter what the screen name! :)

But you never left you just changed your identity? Kinda like the electronic equivalent of a drag queen.

Let the Bird return.

Randy now owns a Forum appropriately titled "Forumly Challenged Boaters". The site started out as a joke but has developed a loyal following with members as far away as New Zealand. During his stint as forum "Pooh Bird" I think he developed an appreciation for what is takes to keep a site civil, fun and informative.

Believe it or not, he himself has had to zap a few innappropriate threads and even ban a member or 2.

So lets uncage the bird and let him flit around.

Use whatever name you want to use...everyone has their own style...some people are nice all the time, some get testy some times...some people are mean and jerks the time and must always reply with something derogatory...it's just who we are as humans...with time and understanding we can learn much about the human condition and hopefully learn to accept each other without derogatory comments and personal attacks...when we fail to do so over and over, that's when we should pack it up and accept our failures as human beings...I see no sign that you are a failure like that...you are human, we all make mistakes and rash judgments at times..the key is to learn from them, and try not to make those mistakes over and over...something it seems you have learned...now just forgive yourself for your past transgressions and move on... :)

You got sumthin' against Appalachian-Americans?

Randy,
Please don't take offense to this but I stopped checking this forum when Freebird was flying out of control. Never complained to anyone or did anything to try and get you banned. Biggest problem was too many post and never staying on topic. I never found Freebird offensive or overly rude and abrassive. Sparky1 has become a great contributor to this site. I think you should pick the name that you prefer. Maybe make it Freebird/Sparky1 for those who don't know the whole story. Maybe there is away to change the Sparky1 post to Freebird post to avoid confusion. Maybe you could change it to Sybil! Just kidding. Either way its good to have you here. FWIW I never read a Freedird thread or post that was as offensive or insulting as many I see here now.

Uh, no, not at all. Where would you get that from? My post was complimentary!

Oh, you may think I was commenting on the "OwnsTooManyHatts" thing, which I was not. I do think that's kinda cool though, maybe because I am part Myan! :)

I just remember you making some comment about Sparky having lost his southern accent. Then again, you may have been posting under your other username of SKYCHENEY. :)

ROFL, good one Randy! I suspect that was probably at a time when Sparky1 was being called out as Freebird in disguise but you weren't quite ready to openly admit it just yet.

The heavy country/hillbilly accent and intended typo's in every post from the early Freebird days just got a little old because it didn't take us long at all to realize that your intelligence level was far superior to someone who really spoke like you were typing at the time, that's all.

Actually it was a lot longer then you remember It was months which I consider long ;)
Well for somethings other things years fly by way too fast!

Hey, if you think the "country/hillbillie" accent was fake, you should go drinking with me sometime up here in God's country. Luckily I learned how to turn it on and off many years ago. :D

I did not mean to incinuate that it was fake at all. We all know that you are a country boy and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. I have enjoyed drinking with you on occasions in South Florida and you most certainly left the accent at home. You just had to actually try to interject such an accent into your posts.

Sorry Brian, I missed you earlier. I'd have to look back to see when Freebird left and Sparky arrived, but there was a pretty good time gap between the two when I took over the Sparky ID.

My first posts as Sparky were just part of a joke Carl Guzman (who gave me Sparky's password) and I were playing on the real Sparky1, our friend Leon who made several trips with us on the GuzCruzer. I thought it would be funny to make him out as some old geezer with a Buick, and it was much later that I did anything of a "serious" nature with it. Too bad I forgot to hide Leon's email address to keep him from getting all those offers to sell him a boat. ROFLOL!!!

I did that one time on another forum. I came back as a totaly incompetant gay boat owner. It only went on for about a week but it realy was a blast.

There's a big difference in using a second username just to cause problems, but it's totally acceptable for educational purposes. :D

As for my Southern accent, I don't turn it off because I'm ashamed of it, I just learned a long time ago that many view such an accent as associated with a lack of intelligence as Byron suggested. :)

I rather enjoy talkin' country as it comes very naturally to me when I'm among others who speak that way. Next time I visit my ole' buddy Chris aka Boss Lady, we'll make a tape for y'all. :D

So Randy , let me get this straight , The forum has sunk to a new levels and you now feel that you would be more comfortable here as Freebird again????? I think you should post as both ; when you feel the urge to stir the pot - Freebird. All other instances - Sparky. Sorta good /bad cop. All in jest , of course.......................Pat
