I just learned a long time ago that many view such an accent as associated with a lack of intelligence as Byron suggested.

That's sad...I've always thought a nice southern accent was something to be admired...very lady-like or gentlemanly.

The Sandbar and posting guidelines have "The Bird's" beakprints all over them.

Then there was a point when you where chastizing somebody here and I was amazed at how things had changed.

It really doesn't matter which name you use. We've all been warned, either way.

Pat, I wasn't suggesting that Freebird would be a better fit than Sparky where the current state of the HOF is concerned. I just find it interesting to see the difference in what is and is not acceptable now compared to then.

As for me maintaining and posting under both usernames, I wouldn't want to do that. Truth is, I can't post under the Freebird name due to a misunderstanding which took place some time after I left. Another HOF friend of mine, eclipsarkanna, signed up as a Forrest Gump-type frenchman who started up with Pascal. One of the mods thought it was me, and they pulled my ability to post under Freebird. I had already told Doug that I wouldn't post any more, so it really didn't matter. I could still use the PM function. BTW, Doug wrote my farewell thread and I just tweaked it a bit.

Bottom line is, it's up to Doug and/or the mods as to whether or not they want to restore my ability to post under my "real" name of Freebird which would be my preference. I'm happy either way.

Yeah, and the good thing is that most Yankees think us country talking rednecks are dumb, but honest. We use that to our advantage in certain situations.

I didn't realize "Freebird" could no longer post. The Sandbar was created because of the 'bird. Everyone who had issue with Freebird knows Freebird and Sparky1 are one and the same. Freebird's posting privileges should be restored.

Freebird would post something, someone would disagree, then he would disagree, then more people would disagree with him, then he would ask for people's opinion about the post and if he was being a pain, people would say yes he was, Then he would disagree with everyone's opinion after asking for it. And it would go on and on...

So this thread is to get everyone on your side in hopes of convincing Doug to remove your posting ban. It sounded like you were asking our opinions and that you would make a decision whether or not to post as Freebird again based on what the collective membership wanted, but in fact it is not your choice. It is all up to Doug.

It's not a matter of taking sides, I was just clearing the air. I'm sure Doug would go along with what the majority wants. The creation of The Sandbar is proof of that.

As you may recall, I was accused of doing that when sherrylynne showed up. She couldn't help it if she was from Texas and talked/thought/typed like I do. Too bad she left as she was a real hoot... and owned her own Hatt too.

I still talk to her from time to time, and she did sell her 36C.
