Ok if we're going to do some Randy bashing tonight I might as well bring up the Waittres ordeal at the Snook Inn Resturant where he stiffed her ($5.00 on a $100.00 tab ) and her boy friend followed him to the boat :D I'll never be able to eat there again  ok ok I'll admit we where a little loud and she was just doing her job  not to mention the girls he was talking to eating at the table next to the boat I told him they look a little young and as soon as he sat down at there table to hit on them here comes the mother and gives him the evel eye :D some people you just cant reach.....

Having bussed tables in high end restraunts and country clubs.....

You come into my club, hit on the teenie boppers, and stiff me, I'm probably not going to follow you to your boat....but you'll probably wake up wondering where all that water is coming from. If not from the bilge, but from the water seps.....

Wait...I have a 12 year old now that looks 16....'Yall 'scuse me, I have a couple of weapons to clean......

Glad you got out alive.....might not have happened here!

Don't upset those guys at the Snook Inn -- well at least don't let them know about our little forum group anyways :p . We have a condo in Marco Island, and eat at the Snook during the summer months. The tourists get down there come fall and winter, and it gets crazy.

Carl,
I keep my 45C on the east coast (Melbourne)...I just can't imagine how you guys navigate over there. 5 miles out, its 20 feet deep...where'd all the water go? If I felt a little better about getting around down there, I may come down by boat.

Egaito we have alot in common I grew up in Naples all resturants and small boat shops, and after waiting tables for years I got into boat building at a local ( aluminum ) boat shop that welded boat together now I have my own shop but no time to work so I still walk the walk and like to talk the talk :D

J's dream any time you come down I'll show you the ropes think of a big mud puddle it slowly slants down and it's all mud hear no rocks so you'll be alright ;) my bottom cleaner says I hit mud so offten my kiell is clean 2 ft up ;)

I was talking to Angela tonight...told her I slept on a moring last night, and that I had 13 feet of water under me, and I crossed 6 feet to get there.

It's strange being out on Biscayne bay with 10-12 feet everywhere. Here, on the lake, you get into 12', you're cutting power, fast, 'cause you're on top of something. This place goes from 120' to 0' in 100 feet if you don't know where you're going, and it could be in the "middle" of the lake.

Different boating environments, different challenges......but I like the consistency down there vs. the extremes of depth to death we have here, especially when I've got the sailboat out, unless I'm racing of course, then it becomes part of your strategy!

We're down 10' of water here right now, with another 7' predicted (thanks to FL's undying loyalty to blue back muscles and stergeon)...what are they, the next manatee?

Anyway, the boating environments are amazingly different, with different navigational challenges, which I enjoy. Here, I run 20 miles up the lake, into rivers, and into tributaries which makes for fun navigation exercises. In Key Biscayne, I find myself trying to get used to a depth reading that spells 'panic' in my home waters!

Ok Ok so where are we going to meet  too much talk get to the point ?/

Carl,
I'll tell you a funny story...Back when Factory Bay Marina was still there, I rented a 21' Grady White CC and was cruising the channel from Isle of Capri to Goodland. Well, travelling through the channel SE past the yacht club and the 951 bridge, I know damn well to stay in the channel...I can see the bars on the north side (cleaner water from the gulf, you can see shoaling).

So I get past the bridge on plane toward Goodland, and just past where you can't see the residential canals anymore (muddy water from the Everglades), BOOM!. The damn boat is sitting at a 20 degree angle in 2 inches of water. Lucky for me it was mud, not oysters. Obviously, I wasn't in the channel. So, while waiting for high tide to get me off that thing, I did alot of thinking about how I did something so stupid. Well, seems that once you go under the 951 bridge, the markers switch sides. Still I know it's my fault, but I was pissed at the marina for not warning me of that...or looking at a paper chart and noticing it.

So, with that out, now you know why I'm a little nervous about bringing my 45 down there. Running it aground isn't as easy (or cheap) to remedy.

I'll probably be down that way in about 3 or 4 weeks. I'll let you know. I'd like to meet some of you guys from the forum.

Jason

Man I dont know how to tell you whats up but I've been hear all my life and I know all the deep spots and shallow so it's easy for me next time just follow and I'll get you thru... :D

There are those who have run aground, and those who will....... I won't tell you which group I fall into ;)

I just hope the time I ran aground with my 23' boat was 'my turn' Now I can say been there, done that, without the cost of doing in in the "big boat"

On a different post Randy stated he was "ping ponging" between Tenn and Fla.....
The reason for that is "Tenn doesn't want him and Florida will not accept him".........

Hey Bubba, just like the women I meet in bars, I'm just trying to keep TN and FL happy by offering them equal time! :D

Hey GoozBoy,

I was defending your honor when I shorted that "waitress"! By the way, Bubba, that tab was over $150.00! You just had to have them snails and stuff, remember?

For all you proper etiquette restaurant patrons out there, this gal was rude! This was a casual waterfront restaurant, and they chose to seat us in the middle of it! Carl is a little on the loud side, but we were behaving, really! Our waitress chose to stand behind me and yell across the table to Carl to lower his voice along with some other smartass remark that I don't recall. The end result was, Carl asked for a to go box and left me and Robert. I offered to pick up Carl's tab in appreciation for the day's events, and proceeded to leave what I thought was an appropriate tip.

I have very rarely short-changed a waitperson, but I have never had one follow me to the parking lot (we weren't on the boat Carl, you big drunk dummie). She asked if I was serious with that $5.00 tip, and I told her yes, you were rude, and you insulted my friend. I told her she should have had the decency to whisper in his ear, or better yet, have her manager do it if she felt we were too loud. Had it not been for Carl's having to return to the scene of the crime, I would have done things differently. When she asked if I was serious about the $5.00 tip, I would have said, oh, I'm sorry, let's go back inside and fix that. I would have then changed the tip amount to 2 cents and left.

Randy,

If you do decide to get the boat and go around Mexico, I will standby here with the cavalry, and wait to see who I will have to go rescue, you or the Mexican Navy. LOL :D

Thanks Bubba, I knew I could depend on you to watch my back! Just drop a line off one of them King Air's and snatch me off the bridge! I'll let go when we cross over FL.

Dang Boys, I had a few drinks that night, but I don't remember hittin' on any teenie boppers or their mothers for that matter! I think Carl just made that up!

Hey, you guys think I'm a Redneck? We ate at that same restaurant, by boat, the night before. Carl got up and left the table to go to the boat and turn on his big screen so everybody in the restaurant could see it! At least he didn't plug in anything X rated! :D

I knew that post would blow back your hair :D now everyones reading our post and seeing two loud mouths at a resturant I think they know us already

Let's eat at Snook Inn this Thursday before leaving for Elliott Key. Y'ont to? Maybe we can find that same waitress again. If so, I'll just sit back and watch you eat and drink while I wait for the poison or Ex-Lax to kick in. We'll just sit by the window so we can keep an eye on the boat, just in case the boyfriend is waiting in the bushes. :D

Sure I'll eat there again , just sit me in the corner with my back to the wall and you watch the door :D If any forum members go down to Marco Island it is a really nice place Sky can tell ya too..and this time we'll tell Leon to wait till I got the boat started before he unties any lines  especialy in that current...

Sounds like a plan. If things turn nasty, I'll put a bag over the waitress's head and run like hell. You take care of the boyfriend. Hey, do I need to bring a gun?
