Yep, No substantial damage that I can see here at Piney Narrows. We have had typical Noreaster Winter storms do far worse.

Hi All,

Here in south dartmouth sustained winds 35-40 mph with gusts 55-60. Heavy heavy rain on and off. Five to six foot plus waves crashing over the padanaram bridge. Maybe 2 foot surge.

Pascal,,,,,are you seeing the same at the BB?

not a drop of rain here! all the bands missed us, incl one that hit you a earlier but the tail end fell apart.

it's about 40kts here, shifted a little more to right, fully on our beam. The dolphins that keep us of the dock are pretty high so the lines come down to the cleats at low tide. Couldnt' have the short at low tide so now that we're near high tide we were getting within inches of the dock. shortened them up a little using the engines to kick the stern upwind

no problem

Talked to the Marina this morning. They faired well and had no problems. Kismet came out unscathed, as did most of the other boats in the yard.

I'll make it down later in the week to oversee the bowthruster install. It should have gone in earlier this week, but Vetus sent them the wrong tube size.

Hope everyone made it thru safely and those of you in the NE have no issues.

The final departure of the trailing edge of Irene over Kent Island - was dramatic.

Rode it out on the boat all the prep made for a easy ride. Just got dirty and leaves but it is washed and ready for Labor day.

Now home had a neighbors tree come through my fence and take out a 28 year old weeping willow :(

A foot of rain here on the lowere Potomac, 2+ feet above normal tide and gusts to 60. All is well no bumps, no drips, no water inside boat or house. 50 year old pilings held fine as did tee dock. Boat gen is powereing house - we likely will have no electric service for about a week judging by the number of trees over power lines/poles - I counted about 20 powerline breaks between home and nearest substation.

Have been running NL gen for about 6 - 8 hours and then down for a rest for a few hours.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Best Regards, Bob K

I found a spott for my yott so far down a canal that it was almost out of the evacuation zone. It did better than the rest of us.

Had some waves in the back yard where the boat is kept.

Last winter that spot looked like this:

I'm not sure whether prefer the snow or the wind and waves.

Continued......

No injuries, no major damage, but lost a buried electrical line where the boat is kept a few days later that I'm sure was storm related. Still no power at my house, but no complaints (except from the Admiral). I get to play with my antique generator.

"Old Milwaulkee" turning gasoline into noise::

Since that pic was taken I've used an old 30A cord from the boat to relocate the genny to the garage so it's out of the weather and the walls can catch some of the sound. Eventually I'll add an exhaust stack to the garage.

Someday....

Good thing you got the Hatt out of there.

Well, I'm sitting here in my salon, 20 feet in the air at Jarrett Bay. "Enjoying" the most beautiful weather of the summer. Helped Skip "Labrador" move his boat from the destroyed Town Creek to Beaufort Town Docks this morning. BTD looked none the worse for wear, and our marina in Morehead was completely unscathed and back in business Monday afternoon.

So I'm doing a bunch of "while we've got it out of the water and in the yard" stuff, been a year since Earl when we last had it out of the water. Got to talk with my diver about trying to get to the top of the stabilizer fins and more of the bow thruster and trim tabs; I was barnacle Bill yesterday. The bottom job and Seahawk CuKote bottom paint done by JB last winter is holding up great so far. One blade of the starboard prop had a weird little tear, less than an inch at the tip, hadn't felt any vibration at any speed. So we sent them both off to the shop to get spun and cleaned up. Put a dial on the shafts in a few spots, all OK , <.003, cutlass bearings look good.

Now just keep Katia out of here. Off to Marblehead this weekend for a wedding, keeping it nautical where I can.

Glad to see everyone made it thru pretty well unscathed. We may argue about technical BS but deep down we all share the love of boating and the bond that makes us Hatteras people. Good luck to everyone for the next one.
