PHEW..... I had just texted Larry (Microcap) to see what he had heard about Jack & the boat...

Great news!

The surge wasn't 13' as reported by the media though, it was about 8'. The 13' was the water level, including the tide.

Larry replied... Says the same thing Capt said... lots of damage around but Jack's boat "its been said" came thru OK. but neither Larry or Jack have seen the boat themselves

Hi All,

Hallelujah !!!!

Great news.....Lets just hope the reports are true !!!!

Here are three not so great shots from my yacht club

Yikes! Looks like you fared better than the others.

DAMN.... there goes the lump back in my throat...........

As you can see, i'm still in the water, they guy laying against me is on land. Just not sure what to do next.
Anyone know?

Then I assume you are partially over the seawall? if so I would move the boat to deeper water before it recedes and leaves you bow down in the water. You can use the windlass to pull your self out.

Hi All,

Art, thank god she's afloat, can you see any significant running gear damage?

I'd be really concerned about positioning her to move thru the debris and other boats as the tides stabilize.

If you're on the wall as Capt said its imperative to get off before the outgoing tide hangs you up. You've got to be cautious because you have no idea what might be submerged.

Can you show us what's in front of you?

So emotional to see these pictures !

I wish I could help somehow.

Thanks everybody, I am not over the sea wall and the damage appears to be minor. The problem is the police wont let anyone in the neighborhood. I have tried to get to the boat twice today and they have the streets blocked off.

Then I would try to get in by boat.

Hi All,

Art, how about the person who took these shots ? Could they assist or arrange assistance? To Capt's point, are they restricting access by water. If not you might be able to find someone with a boat that would take you over.

If it were here in Ma, I'd be looking for mooring barge services, diver services, tug services, launch services, etc....people who could get me there via water..........just a few random ideas !!!

"Hello, I'm from the government and I'm here to help" NOT! Get out of my way so I can get to my boat and secure it. Damn government! They cause more problems than they solve.

Hiked in by foot tonight. posted some info and photos under the "Disaster Thread"
She is floating peacfully in a different slip.

Thanks
Art

Glad to hear she is okay. Mine likewise- at least earlier today when a friend checked on her while I was at work.

Hi All,

Must be such a relief to here that Jim.....thank god

P.S. Eric, how come your boat looks like she was just detailed instead of surviving a hurricane (lol), she's always beautiful.....

This is a before picture of low tide at my Hurricane Hole just as things were getting started:

Add about four feet. Don't have any from during, I had and have my hands full with other things. Tuesday morning there were no newscopter pictures of a Hatteras blocking Merrick Rd. and when I last looked things were pretty much back to what's in the photo.

Knock on wood it sounds like everybody and their boat survived. At least who has reported in.

Has anybody heard from sgharford? He's on the North side of the island which was supposed to get significantly more surge.

Update

I was able to reach SG. He and the boat are okay.

Jim,
After ALL the work you put into your boat over the summer.... It would of been beyond belief if something had happened to her...
