Paul45c , Is this because of the pounding affect ? (beacuase I dont pound at 18 knots) . Have other hatteras boats seen this ploblem when repowering... thanks for any input
At 18 kts. that boat is much more IN the water than flying OVER it, and as Chris points out, you get torsional flex and every other kind of flex on the superstructure & decks. At 25 kts. and above as a steady diet for cruise speed, you'd be needing a lot of beefed up rigidity in the house to not have probs with the glass, IMHO.

It's funny, the 43 Hatt in the backgound of the photo of this Roamer on ebay, is for sale on YachtWorld- Listing ID YW# 24304-1554779 Small world this boating thing!
Yup guys, I know the broker. He is a great guy. He buys and sells some boats and of course takes trades. The Roamer was almost scrap and he listed it on E-Bay as such. The buyer was elated, it is exactly what he needed to move workers to near offshore rigs in southern Louisana. He had it trucked away. Funny how every boat seems to find a home. As for the 43' Hat, it is a very nice boat and runs great. They sold it about a week ago and will pull the ad as soon as the deal closes. Nice boat and we now have a new owner, member.

When I look at the structure around the windshields on or '86 36C, I can't believe that it would flex enough to cause any windshield problems at any speed below mach 1. Maybe the newer Hat designes have a beefier structure around those windshields.

Hello, since i'm planning on looking at a 87 55' sf with a total refit of the interior and new paint of the hull as well as a overhaul of the 12v71ti with 200 hrs on them, I thought this would be the best place to post.

I would be using it as a family cruiser with runs to the New England islands.

Thanks
