I look at randys new forum from time to time as I just dont stay inside that much when it is nice out but I know he is a good guy and he even fussed at some body on there who was putting black people down. He never asked if I was black when we first started talking in e mails about his boat but I guess he knew but it didnt matter even when we met. I dont think he would want to be a moderator on here but he would go good at it but may be not ha ah.

Hey Gang!

OMG! I've been away from here for months and I can't believe this debate is STILL going on.

I met him and went to sea with him. He's a good guy, likes to have fun and really won't take any S*** from anyone. I don't ever remember him jumping on anyone who didn't jump on him first.

So it would be good to have 'em back on here, ya'll are still talking about him anyway....why not?

its official, new thread, mention the bird and you already have 4 pages of responses and 600 + views.

I know, Doug is really Freebird and he does this to liven things up....................

THAT'S IT !!!!

Congrats, you solved the mystery.

what does race have to do with anything ?

For those with the thinner skin there is a filter on the quick keys. It will take out profanity and other "combative" postings immediately. Just hold the control button ( CTRL ) and hit the Function 4 one (f4).

That old F4 works great Scott! ws

I dont get it what is a goliath pencil?

It's my boat hook. Without the end on it, well, it looks like a pencil made for a giant. Cracked me up when Pascal said one day while looking at it, "What is this? A giant pencil?" I never saw it in the light before, and now I think it's hilarious. I'll probably call it "the giant pencil" from now on.

I really like the Hobart mixer! That rack of fresh lemons look yummy too! Winter really sucks up here! Still beats a sharp stick in the eye tho... ws

I think that IS the sharp stick, Bill.

Boy, when things get boring you guys really start to dredge up the old stuff to liven things up, huh?

Enjoy yourselves!

Boy, I haven't heard the name "Hobart" since I left Dayton, Ohio. It's a KitchenAid mixer - does Hobart make those? It weighs a ton which is why I keep it on the starboard side of the boat...ballast!

I've never heard a bowl of lemons referred to as a "rack" before. LOL On Sanctuary, we always have fresh lemons and limes - never bottled!

That's because of all the silicon the females have in S. Florida..... They're still lemons, just well covered......

Wacky section in serious forum?

Randy was a lot of fun to kid around with, but it was true that when you hooked into a technical thread it could become tedious to find info when most of the posts were OT debate. This by no means implies that Freebird was ever off topic, but that stuff just tended to get chatty whenever he was on board. A great read, but not the choice when you were up all night trying to figure out what parts or tools to buy when the store opens. :D

Maybe the ticket is to open a special Freebird section in the forum where anyone headed there would be looking for a famous brand of controversial excitement. I know its a wacky idea, but no bird names please.

Rich

My grandad, the elusive 75 year old bachelor, had a gourmet kitchen that was fully furnished with all the new 1950's techno stuff like that mixer and a blender and a toaster oven all by Hobart and in avocado green. All that stuff on a black marble countertop! Such memories.
Looking at your pencil made me think of a Hawaiian BBQ we had at the boat yard. The cook made a charcoal fire on the ground then set up a rotisserie using a pole like that and skewered about 2 dozen WHOLE chickens... in one end and out the other. Loading the pole looked barbaric, but was also funny as hell! ws

YMBill... if winter sucks, take a break and come down for the boat show and the Hatt party...

Richard, he has his own playground now... he's called it Forumly Challenged Boaters... he's picked up a bunch of disgruntled members from THT... so it's quite an assortment. They even have a porn section...

I'll be there next year with wings on !! Right now this job is burning me up and out! Got any "squatters docks" down there for a 58??? ws

How about 2 pencils? I'm not trying to show you up or anything. Just brought them home to freshen up the varnish a bit.

I sharpen and sharpen those things, but I just can't seem to find the lead.

I see you use the same "suspension" method I did. I hung my by strings across the pilothouse when I put Bristol Finish on it.

Yeah, one screw in each end to tie the string to and you're good to go.

Pascal,

I would not describe his "restricted section" as porn. More like art. The art you find on the calenders in the repair shop.

Randy does have a variety of people on there and it seems no one takes it personal as it's all in good fun. Some Hatt owners and many from the boating community all over the world. I think even a few bayliner and searay owners. The great part is all are welcome. Even you could post there and not be afraid of being censored. What a concept. I believe there is some kind of name for that. First something???????????? Anyone in Miami studying for citizenship know this? If not I will ask my Cuban wife.

The point is he worked out a way to allow off color but reasonably tasteless humor to be on the site with out insulting anyone. Give him credit for that.
