Hatteras Owners School

Okay, I think if I go to another one I might have to bring our home along too

Has anyone received any materials on the Hatteras Owners School, such as a schedule of when we're supposed to be at Jarrett Bay?

Kendra emailed it out on May 6. I see your email address on the list.

I will be docked in front of the Brokerage office (Poole's dock, technically). When you drive into Jarrett Bay, you can either stay on the paved road straight ahead and loop all the way around clockwise to the far side of the lift wells. Or, veer right and head diagonally through the yard. Go SLOW if you are going through the yard!

The classes will be held at Poole's so you will be doing this daily.

Hatteras School just came to an end. It was a great class and I recommend it to everyone with a Hatteras. Roger is a wealth of knowledge and he knows how to entertain and make everyone feel welcome.

For those who wonder what goes on at these things, one example was a complete 12pt alarm system that Roger brought in. All of the components were there. It really helps to see the stuff first hand when he is explaining how to troubleshoot. We also had a chance to talk to some DD mechanics from Covington and many other service people.

I also enjoyed meeting the other forum members. The interaction from the class members and the Jarrett Bay staff made for some great discussions.

I may not need to eat for a week. We never missed a meal. Those North Carolina boys know how to feed ya.

Thanks again, Roger.

I couldn't have said it better Shy ... what a great group of guys ... and what a wealth of knowledge exchanged!

I highly recommend to all if you can attend one of the upcoming classes!

I second that statement. BTW, What was the name of the block heaters Roger mentioned...

Noel

I can't add to what Sky has stated.
Thanks again Roger.

Amazing time and great company. I learned a lot as we got to see some beautiful yachts in the yard as well as the ones that passed by the classroom on the Intracoastal heading north for the boating season. Looking forward to doing it again in the future. The comraderie and stories were worth it. Now, I just need to get back on the boat to start reviewing all of the things discussed and find out how much work I have ahead.

George, thank you and your wife for the hospitality on Sunday night.

Robbie, Brenda and Noel, thank you for the bar-b-que on Sunday as well.

Roger, thank you for making it happen and keeping us on schedule. I can't wait to fill out the survey form. I'm sure that after it is received, Randy may want to do them quarterly. You really go above and beyond, especially on the personal knowledge of everything Hatteras. Please thank Vicky and CD for the great tour of the Hatteras plant, the largest production boat building facility in the world. It really was impressive and to get a glimpse of Knit Wits was like taking a trip to the motherland. I recommend this opportunity to anyone that has the ability to get to Beaufort,NC. It's well worth the time and effort. All the attendees were like one big happy family.

Noel,
I believe the engine block heaters that Roger discussed were the Kim Hotstarts.

What Larry and all the others said. It was excellent. I have a list of 9 things that I will be having Jarrett Bay do this fall on my way south.

There was very little not covered, which was amazing since it only lasted three days.

p.s. Roger, I just bought a NJ "Teeth" brush......

Nice. I wish we could do something like that on the Left Coast!

Definitely one of my best spend of time. In addition to the above reports, some great topics where discussed during breaks and informal discussions among classmates and with Roger. It's a great resource at Jarrett Bay- with all of the specialties all at one place.

Thank you classmates, Roger, Jarrett Bay, and Incentive! Still going through my notes and classifying them in my log book.

I am envious. I too, wish we could have a west coast version of this. I would be willing to help Hatteras with arrangements out here in California. Sounds like it was a great experience. The learning curve seems to be ongoing for most of us. Ross

Roger, Kendra, and all, the Hatteras School was very successful! I do a lot of teaching and I hope that my students can walk away having received as much understanding as was imparted to us. Thank you for all your efforts! In addition, I was very impressed with Jarrett Bay and all that is available there. Thanks also for making yourself available to answer our questions and give us advise. As a result of the course, I will be able to ask questions more appropriately!
Best regards,
Clarence

I missed the school this year but I certainly be at next years event. I have always want to attend and I missed the notification this year due to traveling.

Capt Ron,

Be sure to register asap after the announcement for next year's class as it filled up in the first couple of days and quite a few folks were disappointed.

By the way, it's good to have a famous celeb like Cap Ron on this forum. It was one of my favorite movies.

Well gosh, we might be owners very soon, so I missed the 2010 school.

Then again, my ICW house is about 500 yards down Core Creek from Jarrett Bay's Beaufort yard. Maybe I can ease on over and pick up some pointers. It's like a three minute drive.
