Doug could we get a poll for the GLR 2011?

Who is interested in these dates? Either one

Aug.6 & 7

Aug. 27 & 28

Thanks, ppat

Eric, what is the earliest dates for reservations? How soon in advance can we make them? If prices dont sky rocket we are bringing the Hatteras!! ppat

Pat,
Just start a new thread and the poll option will be at the bottom.

Hey Guy's,
Just got back from Isla Mugeres for a much needed warm up! As far as reserv ations I will get those done for the group as soon as the docks open up, they will only hold docks for groups and yacht clubs. I don't expect any issues with dockage if I have this settled by June. Any late additions should also be able to be accomodated, You will find everyone here very accomodating. Eric

Thanks, Eric. that is good to know! How about if you give us some idea of what to do on the island while we are there. You know, be a travel agent for us...please? ppat

p.s. hope you enjoyed your vacation

Ppat,
The island is not much of a tourist trap, so I had planned on taking any one interested on a tour of the place, arrange an afternoon happy hour on the patio of the Shamrock, arrange a special dinner at the Lodge, and weather permitting get everyone interested out on the Sea Horse for a tour of some of the outer islands and bays with drinks and snacks so we don't get to skinny or undernourished. Just for starters.

Eric

Sounds great. I can tell you from last year, it is best to not have a tight schedule. The guys like to just hang out and chill...LOL ppat

Chilling thats exactly what the island is all about. I didn't really have a schedule or anything in mind, those are just things that we do on a regular basis here and if somebody wants to join in or not its up to them! Talk to you soon Eric

Jane and I would have to stay at the lodge. Do we need early reservations? Our Hatteras 36 is in Florida. The trip to Beaver Island would be too far, so we will take the ferry.

Maynard, I am sure that Eric can make accomadations for you. he is owner of one or two of the hotels on the island, I believe! ppat

Would love to come - but a) fuel prices, and b) my average cruise speed of 13knots would make this a very long and expensive trip... Can we have a get together in southern Lake Michigan as well?

Pat, Pam and I met a couple in our marina with a 42' Hatteras (?I think) and shared the August get-together plans with them. They tell me they would like to go and bring their boat. Their boat is A Biz, owners are Z and Cathy Graham. I advised him about this forum, he was unaware of it. He said he would join the forum and catch up with the thread on our get-together in August. Just giving you a heads-up.

Thanks Bear, the more the merrier! I am getting excited as the time gets closer. This will be my first trip across the lake via boat....ppat

Made it to Frankfort today. Water is crystal clear but rolling at about 4-5 footers...ppat

Pat and all others attending Beaver Island. As we prepared for departure this morning I had one of the HHG25PM Rolls batteries explode, completely removing one of the blade battery terminals (3/8x2"). Naturally no one around here has any batteries this size so here we sit, dockside. With the in-laws on board, the beer, snacks, liquor cabinet stocked - here we are! Damn!! :((

Our friends Z and Cathey Graham are enroute with their boat A BIZ. Hope you guys have fun and we are sorry to miss meeting you all. We are frustrated!!

When I get back home, I'll post pictures. Safe voyages to you all!

Damn thats really unfortunate! Id offer up a set off the sub, but they are in Chicago. Ppat instructed me to have you at least drive over to C-voix and take the ferry over. We really do understand as the party last year at Grand Haven was missed by us by boat due to overheating issues. Its always something aint it? This year/this time, the old Roamer has been performing flawlessly. Dodged a pretty stout storm tonite at are laying over in Northport just above Traverse City. Mark it as a must see... a quaint understated jewel at a buck a foot and cheap (?) fuel! We sure hope to meet up one day... do we hafta come up to St Ignace??????? ws and Ppat

Pat, sounds like you are making good time. Yes, Northport is a nice port, water there is often too skinney for me to get in there. We talked taking the ferry over in the morning, but it departs very early and its a 45 minute drive from here. Pam's parents aren't up for a 0500 wake-up. Hope you guys have fun and meet up with Z and Cathey and everyone else. Yes, we are looking forward to meeting you guys, boater's luck for us this year.

ws and ppat, and others
Our friends that departed this morning in A BIZ for the rendezvous just called me and are tied up in Mackinaw City. They got out to the shoals west of the Straits and turned around in 7'+ seas. A tough day in their 40' Hatteras. They are disappointed and coming back to Cheboygan on Saturday. So yet another couple that won't make it, rats!

I hope you all have a nice time and post some pictures. I'm out with a mechanical, A BIZ weathered out.
