I am making potato salad as we speak!!! Can't wait to see everyone and just say howdy.
Who is planning on bringing their boat? Sky? How about you and the other guys from the marina? ppat
 
Ted is already there with his 60MY, so is Marty with his 65MY. The rest of us are still at White Lake. Right now we are preparing for a big thunderstorm. Reportedly, there are 70mph winds coming with hail. I hope they are wrong.

Ted just called and reported seas around noon today at 5ft. It's been blowing all day so I'm sure they have built since then.

Mark and I are taking a "wait and see" approach. Tomorrow afternoon is supposed to be better so we will plan to be there before dinner. If they don't lay down, we'll come by car. It's a bad week for me as I have several people on vacation at work and I have to be back on Sunday. So....most likely it will be the Sunday forecast that will determine whether we come by boat or not.
 
What are Ted and Marty's boats names? When any of us get there we can look them up and find our meeting point! ppat

Sky, were you able to find a 'good weather window' or did you put those Niads too good use?? ;-)

We all converged on Grand Haven....2 of the guys were already there. Ted and Marty had arrived on Friday. Sky and the other 2 yachts planned on arriving by 2 pm. The lake was so rough it took 3 hours for those guys to go 20 miles.
By 3:30 we were all snug in the harbor and the party began. Trojan Bill and his wife Donna and us started touring the yachts. It was also cocktail hour! They deserved it after that trip!
As the last of the yachts were coming into the docks a couple came up to us on the dock and asked what was going on. I am sorry but I didnt catch his name. He said he has a Hatteras at the other end of the dock. I told him we would be down grilling later and invited him to join us. He mentioned that he was on here but didnt say anything. The name of his yacht is "Kind of Blue". We found another Hatt on the west end and invited him to join us.....talk about a small world. He lives in Elmhurst, IL. We offered him a Hatteras visor and Sky was kind enough to offer him a steak! I am sure he came away with a good feeling for our group!
After the water show we headed back home to Chicago and Trojan went back to Toledo.
we were taking the Hatt Trick out to the beach today to see if I could get a little time behind the wheel and experience with the dock lines. All ready to go and Bill fires up the engines...the starboard side ran to 180 and oil pressure was only 10. We had very little water discharge also... We were forced to put her back in the dock and take out the Roamer to the beach.... I truely believe the Sub is trying to tell us something!!! ppat
 
What a great day. I want to thank all the guys and gals for there hospitality and the tours through their gorgeous boats. It was a sure pleasure meeting everyone after conversing so long with you on the forum. Now the admiral wants a bigger boat. TO LIVE ON. I don't know whether to thank you all or be upset.:D I got home around 2:00 am. Bill and Pat You two left before we could say goodbye. Before we finished saying our goodbyes to all the boaters you had already left. Thanks for the getting everyone together. I can't wait until we have another get-together. On the east side. Those of you that didn't make it missed a great time. The only thing I would change is to make sure I have plans to stay overnight. It was just to short of a visit. Donna also did not want to leave. Thanks everyone.

I would like to give a big THANKS to Sky...with out his help this never would of turned out!
All the yachts were from his marina and he was instrumental in arranging for them to all show.
We all had a GREAT time and I am already thinking of next year!!!The Hatt Trick will be there if we have to tow it with the Roamer...LOL!!!! As it turned out she wouldn't have been there even if we had a crew. Engine problems stopped us from taking her out today as planned.
Everyone was great and friendly...I hope we made some new friends this year and next year will be even bigger! ppat
 
The last 3 of us left a little late and got into Grand Haven at 3pm Saturday. The lake was 5ft rollers with a little chop on top of that. Not a bad run. It was really neat to see a Hatteras convoy.

It was great to meet Trojan Bill and Donna and to see YB and Ppat again.

I just sent an e-mail to Brent of Reed Yacht sales thanking him for the hats and visors! Wish they could of attended but understood the reason why he couldn't.
For a FIRST get together I think it went very well. Next year we were talking about moving it north as per request from some of the guys here. Maybe a smaller,out of the way place. if we move it north we should be able to get more of the Michigan guys. I don't think that many of the Il guys will come but never can tell! We will be there no matter how or where!!! ppat

Thanks for posting Sky, wow those 65 MY's were rolling indeed.

When I get my boat (working on it!!) its going to have zero speed stabilization for sure.
