Yes, I know it's a LONG way away but I need to think summer fun right now. The snow/cold is finally getting to me! Add to that, I decided to leave my 50 in the water and I just visited it last weekend only to find the marina didn't use bubblers on our dock this winter & all the boats are frozen tight in 8" of ice. I'm furious! I dumped 8 50 lb bags of salt all around it & might go there with a chainsaw tomorrow if it isn't better.

SO, Any talk of the rendezvous this year? I have missed it ever since buying my Hatt four years ago & I REALLY want to do it this year. I missed everyone in Block Is. by FOUR DAYS last summer but work got in the way & I couldn't stay.

I'd like to cast my vote for Block Island (again) this summer. To the powers that be, I really am interested in getting involved!

I'll be we won't be swimming in the LI Sound till August this year. It's going to be c c ccold for a long time!

Wow. That sucks. Have you considered just cutting a smaller hole and dropping in your own bubbler? What marina pulled that move on you? Are you up a river in brackish water, or is it fairly salty. If it's salty, be very careful walking around on it, even if it is 8" thick.

Wow, I am sure glad I live in Texas. I couldn't handle not being able to take my little Hatt out during the winter.

Sorry to see your frozen in there.

Our boats also were getting iced in back in January when I checked the docks and the marina set the ice eaters right away. Their floating docks were hanging up on the pilings!

The 2015 rendezvous is scheduled for the weekend of July 31.
By popular demand, we will be getting together at Brewers Stirling Harbor Marina Greenport, New York.
I will post the details soon.
I will need to get a list for slips reservations soon so to all..... send me your info if you plan to attend with the dates, name of vessel, name, address and tel number.
Thanks

Nick
Great! We love Greenport & I just wrote it into my wife's calendar.
We are just completing turbo rebuilds on the 12V183's, just starting replacement of all three a/c systems & I've just ordered 240 s.f. of Nuteak for the interior flooring.
Lots to do in a short period so I'll message you with my details & get busy!!
We will be there with our two kids (daughter 10, son 13) and perhaps two friends.

Thanks again!

Nick, what is "popular demand"? I years past we would vote for the destination and I think that should be the way to go. I'm not apposed Greenport, or Block for that matter, we will visit both ports anyway.

I'd like to visit a new rendezvous port, Clinton CT, Newport RI, Mystic Ct, for example.

Any other thoughts?

JM

Meet in florida than your choices for weekends doubles.

While it's called the North East rendezvous IMO it really does not represent most of the Hatteras owners in the "Northeast". A few years ago we made it a point to travel to eastern LI Sound to a few gatherings and we did in fact enjoy our trips and meeting everyone, but I really think it may be nice to open the affair to many others who for whatever reason (mostly distance) don't choose to travel all that way for a couple of days. Why not consider the Western end of the sound or even better perhaps someplace near NYC. Perhaps NY harbor itself such as Newport marina or another place in the harbor. Maybe even in Atlantic Highlands, NJ or Haverstraw on the Hudson. My point is that it would open up the rendezvous to many Hatteras owners that would like to be involved in the meet and greet scene. My 2 cents...

We do vote the weekend of the Event that is when we throw Ideas around since it is the people that Do the work, Setup and Show up and Jerry you we there you having one of those senior moments or was it one to many Mudslides :D.

Walter If you really think there is a Group that would like to meet in NYC or close by I say go for it. There can be more than one but in my experience the east end has best turn out. You can even go over to the Bertram 31 site they have one every year also and go through the same thing on locations.
Oh and D/3 of the power squadron. One year they did do Liberty Landing then went back out east where 98% happen but it doesn't hurt to try just start a thread and see what happens then go from there.

We will miss you though
Dan

Maybe make it a nice 1-2 week cruise Lots of nice places to go close by once you get out there!

There could be multiple North East Rendezvous, all you have to do is organize it.

Just spoke to a couple of Hatteras owners in our area and it looks like we may try to get something going in the NY harbor area which includes but it not limited to anywhere from Sandy Hook/ Atlantic Highlands, NJ to Haverstraw on the Hiudson. As stated.."not limited to" so let's hear from some of you Hatteras folks who may have an interest. Before we explore all the possible locations etc, it would be good to get a feel for interest... Thanks Dan for the suggestion.....

I agree, a vote may change the attendance, for the better, for some with a western LI Sound home port the trip for a long weekend might be a push, several ports
also sound like a great possibility.

I'd be interested, there are some great spots in the areas you mentioned. Even as a second rendezvous, providing they don't conflict.

If the concept of two rendezvous gains traction separating them by a couple of weeks might better provide for some to attend both.

That was going to be my next suggestion

Now just need names to differentiate

We could be N.E.L.I this year?

Thanks guys..... We'll get on it. In the meantime if anyone has suggestions as to where, please send them to me and I will be happy to contact the marina's for necessary data so we can then have some choices. I should get started right away since it's already April and time flies when you're having fun.....

Walt

I think the new group gets the new name.

Hatts in the city?

NYNJ rendezvous?

I'm interested in both, but some tenitive dates will really determine who can make.

The July 31 to August 2 is about the time of the past NE Rendezvous.

Any suggestions?

That might not define the Ct guys, like Bob and Kevin, and if we go back to Block, well you get it.

Either way I'll do a PM on the blender!😎!

I like "Lt Dan's choice of NELI. Name doesn't matter much, just so we know the difference.
