Hard to imagine that there's much to salvage- maybe some hard parts on the side that was up, not down, but all the wiring, the engines, etc- all gone. It would be years work to gut the boat, dry it all out, rewire it and rebuild everything. It's a shame. Drunken fool.

And my insurance will probably go up because of this.

Wouldn't surprise me if there isn't insurance on the boat. If there is the carrier may have an out because of the circumstances with being intoxicated, including the previous arrests, especially if he failed to disclose those on the policy application and or renewal. Can't remember if the press mentioned insurance coverage? There's sort of a tip off for no insurance because the carrier would have made an effort to get the boat out of the surf right away, to protect the value of the asset and also to keep their name out of the press for not moving the boat avoiding the Enviros getting excited.

What was the big deal with getting through that inlet with only one engine? :D

He couldn't take his steering hand off the Long Island Ice Teas.

Great inlet, 1 engine, 2 engines, day, night, 25 knots NE, etc. My guess is he had it on the pilot and awoke from the LI ice teas when they hit the beach. Btw, what 63 old drinks those things anyway?

I'm with you. Asleep at the wheel. Or asleep not at the wheel, depending.

Or not asleep not at the wheel.

Keyword. Girlfriend. Younger.

Remember the Canadian ferry on the west coast ?

Does anyone know what engine It HAD :( and horsepower? Would also like to know the size of the wheels. I'm looking to re-prop Fair Well boats are close to the same. Would give me a good starting point.

Could be she was humming his favorite tune and just distracted him. Then again, with a BAC like that... never mind. Let's stick with the autopilot scenario.

Someone posted an update that the boat was righted and tow away. But I was down there earlier and it's still there.

Looks like it is abandoned to me?!!!??!

I heard a couple people were arrested last week for " salvaging " Not sure if thats true.

Apparently there is insurance, this gets stranger by the day.
This should have been over the day after it hit the beach.

From Saturday's PB Daily News

Deputy Town Manager Jay Boodheshwar said in an email Friday the insurance company for the vessel, named Time Out, will pay Sea Tow to remove it from the shoreline early next week, though he did not specify a date.

A representative from Sea Tow said today the company has started the process of getting approvals it needs to move the yacht.

Getting enen staranger

From the Palm Beach Daily News 09-29-2016

The Insurance carrier can't be this stupid??????

Town officials are scrambling to put together a plan to remove a 72-foot yacht that ran aground three weeks ago after saying they learned that the vessel’s owner won’t immediately pony up insurance money he received.

Last week, Deputy Town Manager Jay Boodheshwar said the town wouldn’t have to pay a penny to remove the Time Out, which has been left since Sept. 7 bobbing and half-submerged just south of the Palm Beach Inlet. He said the owner, Thomas Henry Baker, received money from his insurance company to remove the boat.

But the town received word Tuesday evening that wasn’t happening, according to Boodheshwar.

“The owner of the vessel is now refusing to remove the boat,” Boodheshwar said in a phone interview Wednesday afternoon.

What? You mean he didn't turn all responsible all of a sudden? I'm SHOCKED.

Since he or the bank has been paid the insurance company is now the owner of the boat. Doesn't matter if they made an agreement with the owner that it was his responsibility for removal. The Town of Palm Beach is incredibly tough on the residents about EVERYTHING, can't believe they haven't been more proactive getting the boat removed.

This story just keeps getting better and better.
