Texas to Maine Cruise

Thanks capt buddy and walterP for the response. We currently are travelling a few weeks than flying back to work for a few weeks...not fully retired until end of may. Hope to be postioned at least in north florida or the Carolinas by the end of may to position ourselves for an arrival in northeastern maine by mid july. We are planning on being in fundy bay for whale breeding season (August and early September) than hitting spots we werent able to see on the way back down the coast. Maybe by then we will have enough experience to attempt the Bahamas, abaco thing.

I understand that the crossing from Carabelle, Fl to tarpon springs is generally done at night if travelling at trawler speed and I found a video on u tube of Pascal crossing during the day but wasnt sure what speed he was going. Anybody have any suggestions. We have mainly done icw cruising and are a little apprehensive about an open crossing.
Lots of comments here on the crossing.I would not do It!!!!!!We did not do it.Freebird and I crossed over from Stenhatchee to Carravel in one day in daylight and at no point were we more than 26 miles off shore. In fact you could see shore most of the time. Why risk it????

Dont miss Bar Harbor Me.We flew our 172 up there a few years ago and it was a blast.

Can't help with storage. Pretty hard to find covered storage in Nova Scotia, don't know of any that are heated. I was afraid to leave Fanfare up here for the winter, but plenty of others do and say no problem. Just blow out all water lines and be liberal with the potable kind of antifreeze.

But if you are in Calais, ME, you should call the Rossmount Inn just outside St. Andrews and make a reservation for dinner. Maybe a half hour drive from you. 4599 Route 127, St. Andrews, New Brunswick. (506) 529-3351. A Swiss couple run the hotel; she is in charge of the house, he is the Chef. I capitalize because he deserves it. Dinner is so good we once stayed two days to eat there rather than continue on to our house in Chester, N. S. He is an original, gifted Chef who uses only fresh local ingredients, much of which he grows himself. The tuna/avocado tartare is to die for. I can never remember if my favorite dish is his halibut or haddock layered with potatoes and vegetables. So I usually order one, the Admiral the other. We always stop there going in each direction.

If you get to Nova Scotia I can offer a free dock except August 12-19 when we have the Canadian Navy there for Chester Yacht Club Race Week. We are found at (902) 275-3383.

Thanks Jim..will probably just cruise Passamaquoddy bay, grand mannan, maybe st John, than head south this year, but thanks for the offer. Admiral is pushing for smaller boat so will likely try and find broker and begin looking for something in 40 ft range. We found it somewhat difficult to find anchorages with enough depth and swing room for our 501 Chris craft (56 ft overall).
Pascal ...Eric who?
