Gentlemen,
I thought I might could offer some information on flooring choices. I am in the commercial flooring business and we install 100's of tousands of feet of flooring a year of all types. I won't make any comments on appearance because that is too subjective.
Lonseal is a brand and they make many types of "wood look" flooring. It may appear to be just linoleum but isn't. Some of their products are installed as gym floors and are extremley durable. It is a sheet flooring material and comes in sizes up to 12' depending on the product. If you like the look it will hold up very well. Go with one of their commercial rated products for the best durablity.
Amtico is a resilient strip flooring with a wood look. It is a very good product but it is made overseas and they are proud of it. They pioneered this type of product but their are many other manufacterer that make equals now that are just as good. Armstrong as a very realistic teak look in their Woodworks series.
Don't think I can add much about wood. One other point. Lonseal and Amitico or equals are resilient flooring products. They have some cushion properties and they also are quitier than wood.
