Mounting transom ladder on outboard CC and toilet paper

I am thinking this question is like "how do you install your toilet paper with the paper coming off the top or bottom. I have seen the ladders installed both ways.

So if you are installing a transom ladder like this:

Does the One stainless wraparound rail on top go toward the outboard and one underside support rail toward the outside or the reverse?

Being a guy I don't usually change the roll. It's one of the few forms of revenge I have against the Admiral.

As far as the platform, my thinking is the lower brace goes toward the engine. For one, the transom will be deeper there, and two there will be less chance of intereference between the powerhead and the hand rail (and hands). That's the way it was set up on my friend's Angler.

In the picture shown in the link, the engine would be to the starboard side of the platform.

I concur. It seems logical. It is just that I have seen it the reverse. For example.
