Being a guy I don't usually change the roll. It's one of the few forms of revenge I have against the Admiral.

As far as the platform, my thinking is the lower brace goes toward the engine. For one, the transom will be deeper there, and two there will be less chance of intereference between the powerhead and the hand rail (and hands). That's the way it was set up on my friend's Angler.

Hal, I don't know if you've started to price shop the ladder, but after a quick search I found one for $193.
 
In the picture shown in the link, the engine would be to the starboard side of the platform.
 
I concur. It seems logical. It is just that I have seen it the reverse. For example.

Where's the outboard?
 
I just stand the roll up sideways on the top of the dispenser.
