OK, I'm leaving the icy midwest for Florida this afternoon. Sorry to miss Ang's party, I'll be on the plane. (I need to plan this better!)

Hope to meet anyone Monday at the show at Sam's, around noon.

I will be preparing the boat for a week before my better 3/4 joins me and we depart for the Bahamas. If your number's listed here do I have permission to call? I'll be in Ft. Lauderdale.

My cell: (314) 223-8500

OK, the cam is up again this evening, featuring Sanctuary, and whomever shows up for the gathering. So if you can't be here in person, be here in spirit and join us via the cam.

The signal has been spotty for some reason today, but I'll keep an eye on it to see if I can keep things connected.

Monica and I stopped by the Hatteras display on Friday and saw Steve and met a couple of folks from this forum (and got our free T shirts). We decided not to put up with the major hassel of dealing with the traffic this year and stayed at a hotel across the street from Hatteras. Pricy but worth it when you consider the stress factor. Sorry we missed most of you but we left for home on Sat morning - the weather got pretty cold for So. Fla and we were there for almost a week already.

I hope you guys got to really get into the motor yachts. I was pretty impressed with the engine room and adjoining areas on the 64. The finishes and fibreglass work were at least as good as the classics that built the Hatteras reputation and probably better. We tend to critisize (sp) the new boats but after looking at the construction details, I really fell in love with the new boats... We're looking forward to the new 56 MY due by the end of this year.

We just got home, sorry to miss the chance to see the gang. We actually went to lunch at the Rusty Pelican on Saturday and saw Sanctuary - great boat!- but didn't make ourselves known. Went to No Name Harbor and walked all the trails until sunset - really delightful place. We stayed at the Bayside Marriott and visited all the venues except Strictly Sail. We spent a full day on Collins on Thursday and a half day on Saturday. We went by the Hatteras display and toured "September Song." Nice, very nice. Sorry we missed seeing a Sam's rep. - I wanted a T-shirt! When I opened up my emails just a minute ago, I had a nice "thank you for visiting" from Hatteras - first company to do that, which shows something. We went aboard several of the Hatts in the brokerage show and know why you folks are so proud of yours. Just makes us "wannabes" that much more envious. We'll be back next year!

I was not impressed with any of the brokerage Hatts at the show. Most had major modifications and were very rough except for the newer ones at the Hatteras display. Maybe my standards are too high, but my 20+ year old Hatt looked better than most anything I saw there. I guess I'll keep her.

In fact, Sanctuary, Reel Estate, and Sasha were much nicer than most of the Hatts at the show as well. Thanks to Angela, Carl, and John for letting us look at your wonderful boats. I was really impressed by those sparkling white engine rooms on the Goozcruiser--Nice!

I think many of the brokerage Hatts of mid-70 & 80's that I saw had been on the market for some time and there was a reason for that. Either they were priced too high or they were to heavily customized with cockpits added or wall paper over the wood, etc.

I enjoyed the show and as someone stated before, Hatteras still builds a fine yacht. It may not look great from the outside with that Euro styling, but it sure is built well.

I agree with Sky 100%. A very sad display as far as used Hatteras M/Y.
I also spent Saturday and Sunday looking at 6 boats that were not any better.
All but one were poorly presented and represented.

First I would like to publicly thank Angela for the considerable amount of time and effort she made to have a nice social gathering for her friends. Sometimes it is both surprising and reassuring to find out who your real friends are. I suppose for the first time I am taking the side of those on this forum who have referenced their preference for quality over quantity. Although Angela had both quality and quantity in food and beverage... never mind. It was very relaxing and enjoyable which I'm sure is what she had intended it to be. Of course, all the above goes for Ed too as he was the co-host.

As for the video provided and the picture showing your's truly drinking his favorite brand of beer... free, you will note my hair is not on fire. That would constitute a federal offense as it is on the endangered species list. This is however an example of how sometimes a picture is not worth a thousand words. Too bad there was no audio on that camera.

The most enjoyable part of the party will only be known by the three people who made good on their commitment to be there. Sometimes plans change, but telephone service is usually pretty reliable. As always, the most enjoyable aspect of this and other social gatherings I have attended with my Hatt friends was the conversation which went off-topic on several occasions. I suppose the fact it took place on a Hatteras was good enough. Sorry if that appeared to be a jab, but it was in fact our mutual ownership of a Hatteras and this forum that brought us all together.

It was nice to add the Shuman's to the list of members I have met in person. It was especially nice to have finally met Jim aka "Passages" at the show the next day. As for finally meeting Doug Langley in person, that was the highlight of my visit to the Hatteras display. To Doug I say thank you for providing the tools to fix more than just our boats!

Another opportunity to meet new friends has come and gone, and I look forward to the next one.

My Hats off to Angela. I called her and shocked her when I said that I had been watching the party on the cam. For about 3 hours. I got to meet a few of the people through the cam. It worked quite well. I was impressed Angela. It was nice to meet you even that way. I hope you save me a drink for when I stop by in March and really shake your hand. Randy that picture did not do you justice.

I attended the show yesterday and was fortunate by chance to meet up with Jim Grove (FANFARE) after leaving the Hatteras display. We had exchanged cell phone numbers 2 years ago for the Lauderdale show, but were not able to hook up. Glad chance was on my side. Sorry I missed SAM's yesterday and the tee-shirt waiting for me. Didn't know they did not man the Hatteras display on the last day. I really enjoyed the display and loved the new 60 GT. But for now, I plan on keeping ELECTRA VI with all of her new systems.

Hey Bill,

I'm not quite sure what to make of that comment. Are you saying I am better looking now as opposed to earlier pictures posted on the forum, or should I have set my hair on fire? I know, I promised to wear my Hatteras thong. I'm afraid these cold months have widened my load, and I need to get back to my fighting weight! Maybe next CDR.

While I truly enjoyed Ed and Angela's company and that of the Shuman's, I find it harder to smile these days even on a Hatteras. Dang, that's saying something. Maybe it's time for either a bigger Hatt or a change of beverage. I remember Bill Cosby always smiled when he drank a Coke!

Okay, just for the record and maybe a little clarification, Angela was fine with how things worked out with her party plans. Maybe I overstepped my boundaries when I made the remarks towards those who bailed on her party. She and Ed were great hosts, but come on guys, fair is fair. You all have probably noticed I have a hard time being quiet when somebody (at least in my opinion) causes a problem for a friend. 'Nuff said. Ya'll can make it up to her next year!

Randy, maybe it was the thong warning that kept the other people away. :D The fire hair sounded a little scary to. :D It was fun watching you people and trying to guess who you were. What I could see of Angela's boat on the cam, really looked nice. The guessing got the best of me so I had to call Angela and find out who all was there. I did not expect to see you there Randy. They said earlier that you were sick and would not be at the show. Are you going to be there the second week of March? I was going to fly down there for the weekend, but the ticket price was way out of line. I could of rented a plane and flown it myself. I'm going to be down to Naples the first of March then to Daytona for bike week, then back to Naples, to Miami, to Marathon, to Cape coral, to Fort Myers Beach, to the Casino in Immokalee, to Naples, then home to put the boat in the water. In my travels I hope to have lunch or a beverage with as many of the people here as I can find. :)

Hey Bill,

The hair on fire thing was a little inside joke and the thong rode up something terrible. I was sick as a dog on Tuesday, but the little useless visit to the marriage counselor on Wednesday followed by a Valentineless night had me feeling like Miami would be a better place to feel like crap than 20 degree nights alone on my 41 in TN. Driving and blasting the stereo does a body good! I hated not to bring the little fellow, but I knew the weather was going to be bad. I'll bring him down with me next time. There is nothing quite like watching him play on the beach. Dang, here I go again.

I got lost in that schedule of yours, but I would love to meet up with you sometime. My stress-o-mometer usually dicates when I head to Florida these days. More for self-preservation than pleasure. I think Carl was talking about doing something around that time, maybe a trip to the islands or something. That would be a hoot with Ryan. Keep in touch and we'll see what happens.

Oh yeah, do you know anybody who might be in the market for a 2005 H-D Screamin' Eagle V-Rod with 2k miles? Would it be worth dragging it on a trailer to bike week? I've never been before, but I know some of the other guys like Steve (67hat34c) and Scott (boatsb) have done it. Holler some time 865/617-6212.

For anyone who visits Florida we don't have casinos the Indians have some gaming palaces , but there not casinos . No black jack , roulette, craps. only computer games that odds are 20-1 of winning and it says it right on the odds screen  I feel bad for people who go in there thinking its Vegas style casinos and they get ripped of 100 bucks in 20 minutes :( Vegas slots regularly pay 40-45% back to you and you can play all night on 100 bucks.
the Indians only pay out 5% unfortunetly the odds are in english and the latins seem to line up to play them on any given night ...too bad they just haven't been to Vegas to know the difference  ok I'll get off the soap box, I guess it's Indian style payback.....

Hey Ed,

You do realize I am a highly sought after celebrity who commands premium endorsement compensation for use of my photograph.

To that end, I must insist either you cease and desist with the display of my unauthorized photograph or send immediately one six pack of Bud Light as Angela has now caused an addiction previously unknown prior to my visit aboard ya'lls boat.

Oh yeah, now I'm afraid to sleep alone on a Hatteras. Hummm, sounds like another job for Ben Dover. :D
