  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
65' CONV -Series I (1986 - 1998)
I am in search of a 24V Galley Maid Windlass motor for a 65' EB Sportfish. I checked with RAZ marine and they said they didn't have the armature or coil packs for the 24V and no motors in stock.
Any suggestions?

Yes call Galley Maid and ask for Rick. He can fix what you have or may have an upgrade available. He replaced my rotten cast iron cap for my windlass with cast aluminum.

Check with Rick at Galley Maid. He got me one a few years ago.

I tried Galley Maid and he tried to be helpful but said to try to find a used one if possible as the cost for a new one in excess of $1500. Mine apparently got very hot and armature tossed a bar.

On a related note. The main wire to battery goes from bow down through areas I can't get to. How do I know which battery it would be connected to in the engine room?

Its not connected to the battery directly. It goes to one of the aluminum boxes in the engine room that has your battery disconnects. Inside of that box is a fuse on a bus bar. Whatever bank feeds that box is the bank that the windlass is running off of. Open those up and look for a fuse labeled windlass. Or easier yet, just shut off that battery disconnect and see if you have power at the windlass.

What year is the boat? On later boats like Sky said the power comes from a box in the ER. On the earlier boats, power to the windlass comes from one of the battery banks with a battery switch.

Pascal, the boat info is under the member name now just left of the post. He has a 65C (1986-98)

It's an 89 Model 65' C (Encl Bridge). Are you referring to the DC breaker panel in the ER fwd bulkhead? I can't find a Windlass breaker, though there are few missing labels or is the box your referring to located somewhere else?

Except on mobile views.

To see that info on mobile:
  • You can rotate to landscape to temporarily view the boat info under the profile name by switching to a wider viewing mode; or
  • You can click the username to open the user's profile popup, then click the username from the popup to view their profile and click the about tab to see their user info.
I've added "see if you can add the vessel info to the user profile popup on mobile" to my to do list :)

If it helps, thanks to new file upload ability, here are the GM manual and wiring instructions I had saved.
Are you able to upload those manuals directly to the Resources > Manuals area? I'm actually very curious to know if this is working for you - please DM me if you have any issues.

[Resources posts will be moderated, but once approved they will be available to everyone in one place. We can then refer posts to that section of the website with links, rather than having every post get the same manual posted into it, which ultimately makes them harder to find and uses more storage.]

I was able to successfully upload the manuals to Resources/Manuals... I will also upload the others I have. Please delete duplicate posts if you don't mind.
