Just a note pascal or Randy in drag do NOT count.

Never mind mud wrestling - what ever happened to the good ole "mazola parties". All you guys too young to remember those! Wives are welcome but the more single women the better.

Instead of charging entry fees, I suggest chaging admission to the mud wrestling. Could be a fundraiser for the HOF. If you get a couple voluptuous women I will mud wrestle too! After all it is for a good cause.
Now there's an idea!

The Bird vs Pepe LePew in a fight to see who can eat the most spiked Jello!

Oui shall see who the better man is, yon't to? Oh yeah, I get 10% of the pot, win or lose.

I like to make French Toast with Mazola myself! :D

Okay guys and gals, let's get this thread back on track as I am totally serious in trying to make this thing happen. It is obvious many of us are capable of having a good time, but we're harmless in person. In fact, anyone who shows up on deck with a computer in hand may find out if it is indeed waterproof!

As I said, Lake O is just a suggestion based on logistics for east and west coast based owners who would in fact want to come by Hatt. If we end up with anything less than a 50/50 majority of east coasters, Ft Myers would seem to be the next logical choice unless of course the majority of promised attendees think the Tampa/St Pete area would be more doable based on their boat locations. I can think of at least a half dozen members who would probably choose that area, and at least that many or more who would prefer Ft Myers.

Let's just pick a time and place based on numbers of participants and as always, the weather at the proposed time. I would like to see this thing through to reality instead of watching it fade to the bottom of the forum list with no interest. I've started this ball rolling, time for you all to kick it around a little.

I think the water level in Lake O is going to kill this. They are implementing water restrictions starting tomorrow here in Miami, and I think, but I'm not positive, it will include four counties on the east coast. Time to bring that watermaker project to the front burner.

We have tentative plans to go to Boca Chita during the first week of April.

Hi Ang,

Do you plan to attend or are you just playing the role of weather girl? :D

I'm sure this event would take place after school is out in June or maybe later, so today's water problems will be tomorrow's news when the time comes. I certainly don't have to tell you about Florida weather huh?

We'll see what kind of response we get and plan accordingly as to an agreed location. You will note I made mention of a non-refundable $500 depost to address no-shows who make us all re-arrange our thinking to accomodate them.

I'm sure that is one concept you will most certainly understand! ;)

For some reason, I had it in my mind that you were talking about the rendevous being in April or so which wouldn't give the lake time to recover. Not sure where I got that impression. I can't really say what my plans are in June or thereafter. I do have guests coming in June, but the precise dates are uncertain to me right now. Anyone got any ideas how long it would take to travel there from Miami....I don't move fast....maybe 8 to 10 knots. Much more than that, and I put a whole herd of dinosaurs on the grill.

But, but, I thought Al Gore (Father and Inventor of the Internet - to whom we should all give thanks for the Forum) said that Florida was to all be underwater in 5 years? Lake O is running DRY?

I thought Karl invented the internet.

You mean we Tennesseans blamed Al Gore for that and helped put George Dubya in office?

Al said Florida would be underwater in 5 years because that was how he planned to balance the budget and push through legislation for health care for illegal aliens.

angela

i've done the baby loop a couple of years ago... at hull speed, it's one day from miami to north of palmbeach, and another day into the OWW to clewiston.

Angela,

Sorry I got sidetracked last night and didn't address your question which I think may have been directed at me.

I haven't made the trip through the OWW leaving from Miami, but you enter the ICW, St Lucie River, at Stuart which is well above Palm Beach. I'm sure your have a chartplotter or charts on your 58 which will give you the distances involved. Then you can calculate the speed you plan to run to see how long it will take you.

I have not run the ICW north of Jupiter, so I can't advise you as to how many bridges or slow/no wake zones you will encounter if you choose to run the ICW. I'm sure Dave, captddis, can as he has made this trip many times I'm sure. I've made the run from Stuart to Lake O several times and it's very easy once you make your way onto the St Lucie. The locks you will encounter have their own lines to secure your boat, but you'll neet to hang your fenders high enough to protect your rub rail unless you really want to give it a workout!

Holler if I can offer any assistance. Hope you and Ed can make it! :)

So are we going to nail down any dates on this trip and are there any more out there in the wood pile that want to go ? I'm getting out this weekend ,this sunny weather is giving me withdraws :D I gotta get in the water and soak some ....water temp went up some and Kings are moving in, I'm going to go get my stinger now...

I hate to rain on the HOF rendezvous parade, but there is a planned closure for maintenance/repairs of the Ortona Lock on the OWW between June 4 and July 21. NOBODY crosses the OWW between those dates. I am going to try to slip through around May 30-June 1 or so on my way to the Bahamas and return the last week of July just after the re-opening. I should be passing through Ft. Meyers at the end of May so if you guys do something there (Ft. Meyers Municipal Dock?) I should be able to make it.

I thought you guys would like to know so that you can make the appropriate changes to your itinerary.

Carl,
What is the status of the Kings? My stinger rigs are tied
and ready to go. I'm up here in Clearwater - ready and waiting!

Thanks Byron, I think I mentioned the deal with Ortona but that is something we can certainly work around as no date or specific location has been determined at this point.

Be sure and keep us all up to date on your travel plans as I for one would love to have you participate. I would love to get on your boat and critique it for you! :p

Seriously, this is as good a starting point as any. Let's hear from the rest of you and get a date specified.

Mike I'll be going to get me some kings Sunday ;) I'll let you know how I do .last Saturday I went out and got scunked but a buddy of mine got two on his boat. The Marco turnament is this Saturday and Naples I think is next...
Byron I was also thinking of the Bahamas or Mexico for June -July ...maybe we can do the Lake for 1st week of April thats our spring break??? leave your boat down there for a few weeks and then resume your trip

Randy, I thought you guys knew about it but I saw that members were talking about trying to pass through the OWW during June for this rendezvous and that will be impossible if not done in the first few days of June, then you can't get back through and will have to go around (keys).

I'd love to meet up with you guys! As far as critiquing my boat, let me be the first one to say that my boat IS NOT in "Palm Beach" condition or anywhere near! I in no way mean to suggest that I have a 58YF in bristol condition. The paint is faded and dull in places and it will hopefully get painted in the next year or two. The stanchion bases are pitted and some are green with corrosion and I have NO PLANS to disassemble all hardware to have it re-chromed even when I paint her. That is WAY too much work to remove/replace stanchoin bases, etc IMHO. I am refreshing her but I AM NOT restoring her. She was very well-used by her original owner that I bought her from, crusing the entire east coast from Nantucket to Nassau and back every single year since her delivery in 1972. She has spent her entire life in salt water and it shows. She wears her "wear" with pride and I respect her deeply for it. I bet she has more nautical miles under her bottom than many similar-aged Hatt's! I'd put her up against any similar aged boat mechanically because that is where the serious attention and money has been spent on her since day one. The cosmetics are just that, cosmetics. They do not help the boat cruise any better or safer, so it is not at the top of the priority list. WHEW, glad I got that off my chest! So please, do not expect anything "impressive" looking when Sweet Melissa pulls up. She'll cruise anytime/anywhere with the best of them, but she will not win any "Bristol Condition" contests and I don't mind that one bit.

Carl, I was originally planning on bringing her down to somewhere between Tampa/Ft. Meyers or Stuart/Palm Beach over spring break and leaving her until late May. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond my control, the boat will simply not be ready in time. I had to push my haul-out back to the 29th of this month because my new Slane swim platform is not done yet. The new Garmin 4212 that I ordered 2 months ago has still not been released yet. I am in the process of removing the old 48-mile radar and installing the new Furuno 64-mile unit. Ive got scaffolding affixed to my radar arch at the moment while I run wires. I will BARELY be ready for my scheduled May 26 departure date, if I even make that.

I'll keep you posted as to my progress and if/when we will be headed that way.

Condition is not important to me as long as you still have that disco ball hanging and a well stocked fridge then I want to be tied up next to you :D
Well I'm sure we'll make it work one way or another even if I just meat you for a day or two at Fort Myers ;)

Bahamas would be an interesting RDVZ. GaryD, 3rdhatt, Thoward, and Carl Guz are looking at times in June/July. West End would be a good location. Folks out of Miami and the Space Coast could make it too.

Randy you could get that wing fixed by then?
