Ok guys, if you read the electrical thread you will see that we have already found a spot for the get together. Now how about a date?

The get together is set for Beaver Island...hope we can get some of the guys we missed last year!!
Moving to Wisconsin has changed our outlook on alot of things.

We will be going and taking the 1963 36' foot Roamer
Sky has already piped in with his 53' ED

Doug could we please get this as a sticky thread? Thank you, ppat

Sky, when are you guys doing the Canada thing? Willy says sometime in August, will that work for you?

Anyone else have a preference to dates? I sent Eric a pm to see if the island can accommodate us and we will take it from there.

I want to thank Eric in advance for being kind enough to offer his services and only hope he knows what he is getting into!! LOL Just kidding Eric, we are a GREAT bunch of guys/gals and have a passion for our boats and the water!!

Thanks for the STICKY Douglas!! Last years GLR was a smashing success thanks to Pat. Lets make this one a year to remember!! Maybe this one will garner us some free Shamrock T shirts LOL... ws

Is the water deep enough for us at Beaver Island. Everytime I ask others on the dock about going out there, I'm told the average water depth is 5-6'. Maybe I'm getting bad info?

Sounds interesting if we have enough water?

Bear, this is a cut and paste from what some one told me about the entrance to the harbor, I am sure we will get more responses....ppat

The Marina has some thin water - but the harbor master can talk you in just fine. The Harbor is nice anchoring.

I received a PM from a member who has offered to be our contact on Beaver Island.

He has stated that the dock has 10 docks for yachts up to 75' and 12-14 docks for 40-50' ers. they have 110 and 220v. Depth at the dock is 7-10' on the larger outside slips and 5-8' on the inside shorter slips.

I think we can make this a go guys. We do need to firm up a date so we can get reservations in. Willy says it fills up fast so we will want to be a head of the game!!!

What dates are good for your group Sky? Anyone else want to pipe in with dates?...ppat

Homecoming weekend is Aug 12-14 and is really busy, would be best to avoid that one if possible. Just food for thought, Eric. (Seahorse55)

Thank you Eric, I believe it will probably be the weekend before Labor day...but dont know for sure.

Sky and a couple of other forum members go to Canada every summer and we try to plan it around that and everyone else's schedule, of course. Sort of the end of the season party, I guess!! ppat

Last year we had problems with our date due to the Chicago Air and Water show. This year that will be on Aug. 20 & 21st.

So, if we have home coming 13 & 14 and Air show the next week, that offers us with the weekends of

Aug.6 & 7

Aug. 27 & 28

The weekend after the 27th is Labor day and we want to avoid that.

What does everyone thing of those dates? Which will work best? ppat

I think Aug 27,28th is perfect timing for the Island, things are just starting to slow down and the living is easy. It could almost be to much fun to finish out the summer season on the Beaver! Eric

We have our first vote for the weekend of 27th and 28th! What do you guys think?
Sky, Mark (Airpilot) Maynard, Bear, Eric (smoothmove), Akin, Ray, Dan and Mary, rbeta? Come on guys, speak up!!! ppat

I would vote for the Aug 27/28 weekend.

Earlier is better for me. Aug 28th is probably too late for us, but whatever the dates end up, we'll do our best to try to get there.

Sky, will it be the same group as last year? All 5 of you guys were the yacht show!! LOL

I know you and Mark(Airpilot),, what about Marty and Art (did I do the names right?)

This year I hope to get a better showing as we are at a better spot.

Have you decided on when you are going to the North Channel yet?...ppat

Is there a ferry to the island? I'm planning a trip to the UP this Aug with the bike. Maybe I can work with this. It would probably take 3-4 days for me to get the boat there. It's slow doing up the river.

BILL

Pat,
The Roamer is not gonna cut it. You need to bring the HATT TRICK. We all want to see the results of all of your work. It is only a two day run from Chicago. This is a Hatteras rendezvous afterall.

I want to show her off also, but before anything else, we need to decide on a date!! ppat

ps... and who is coming!!

Hey guys .. if there's room, this canuck might like to join you. I'm starting my loop trip next summer and will be on Lake Michigan heading towards Chicago in August. John
