They disclosed in the first ad that the crank was bad, so that shouldn't have come as any surprise. Can those engines be pulled with a boom and out the back of the salon or does the hull have to be cut?

Yes they said that the crank was bad. They have since added that the blocks need to be machined. That was not in the first ad.

I posted earlier about the blocks most likely needing work or most likely needing to be replaced.

I was the one who asked what would need to be done if the crank was bad. I can't see why your response would have been deleted. I guess I'm missing something here. Considering that I've shopped the 58 and other Hatts with 16V92s, I found that info valuable.

Just curious, what does a 16v92 weigh? Four or five tons?

Is the 16/92 (2) 8/92's bolted together like the old 16/71 was?

At 1300hp, this is a TA, isn't it? If so, it looks like it's 7006# dry.

There are 1200hp Cummins marine engines rated "runner" for sale in Canada...asking $38k each.

OR, hook up a hydraulic PTO on the running engine and a hydraulic motor on the shaft for the busted one. Leave the broken on in the ER for ballast.

Pretty sure the 12V and 16V 92s are the 6 and 8s bolted together

I think he referred to line bore and it may have been taken personally. :)

I looked on boatdiesel.com and there are a number of engines in that size and hp class for sale used, in pairs- 3412s, MTUs, MANs. Maybe that's the way to go with this boat- take the DDECs out and repower her with used engines, or rebuilts.

Thank God it's far away from me, I could get myself in a lot of trouble with a project THAT size.

You and me both!!!

I wonder if he'd take a Roamer 46 in trade...:p

Not a good idea. Remember yours has two engines and a lot of the heavy lifting is done. PLUS that boat draws a lot more than yours does....

2-8/92's bolted together @5k ea = 10k at least when I went to school. Better check your calculator

Not my calculator...Detroit's. Guess I shouldn't read their specs.

I think that brochure is a miss print. I have the brochures and my 12V92TA are listed at 5861lbs and the 16V92TA is 7008lbs, both engines bobtailed. Makes sense since they list the 8V92TA as 3480lbs bobtailed, 3815lbs with Allison MH gears and 4440lbs with TD 5111 gears.

Thanks Jack. Guess with Common Core school curriculum, 5 + 5 doesn't = 10.

And thanks to auto correct I can't spell misprint.

Well she sold, I watched her towed out of our local yard, she left the same way she came in, it will make a good boat for the person that bought her.
