  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
50' CONV -Series I (1966 - 1969)
My neighbors captain brought his 60 back from the Bahamas yesterday because of Emily. I couldnt help but to take a couple pics as they were resorting the tender. The tender is a Aubury Bros built in Man o War, neat boat. His 60 is one of the most perfect I've ever seen.
You can see the way the boat is sitting how light he is on fuel.

How long has he had it? I took care of an identical 60 for years. It too was pristine. Last I heard it was in Guatamala or Costa Rica.

Wow, I can't say I'll ever really be a fan of enclosed bridges but that is one good looking boat.

Aren't those little boats still built in the Bahamas? I think there was an article about them in Soundings not too long ago. They are supposed to be great little boats, very well made and seaworthy. Do you have one?

He's had the 60 a long time. Its a '85 and I think he bought it new. His father had a '78 53c "Lillian B" that sunk I think it was in Staniel Cay in a storm. The Aubury is made in Man-O-War in the Bahamas they are hand made and you can walk thru the shop where they are made and watch. You cant call it a factory more like a small shop with a couple guys working. Used to be they couldnt be imported them to the US but I think they changed that. Very expensive little boats. Old technology but very kool.

That is a good looking boat. Obviously owned by someone who cares for her. Looks like the aft tank is low but the forward fuel and water tanks aren't.

I never was a fan of an enclosed bridge, until now. It really is a nice way to run a boat. Once you do it you'll change your mind. It's quiet, climate controlled, no wind or spray in your face, electronics stay clean and dry and your guest will hang out up there with you. For us it is great. My wife and kids can stay up top with me and still be in an enclosed area, a big plus when you are trying to keep small children safe while running.

I can't dispute the benefits. I just don't like the way it usually looks. That one isn't too hard on the eyes.

Do you have an extra helm that lets the captain see the cockpit for fishing?

I'm partial to the way this looks:)

This is the flybridge docking station. There also are controls in the cockpit.

Thats another neighbor here in the Moorings, yes the boat is as clean as it looks on the pics. I dont know the owner personaly but the boat rarely moves.
I like the looks of the closed bridge but to me the boating experience IS the wind and spray in your face, the smell of the ocean. And if your a serious offshore fisherman you need to be able to "feel" the water around you. Sometimes just catching that little swirl in the water in the corner of your eye makes the difference.

I realize it's just personal taste, but I think "Convertibles" look best with the top down.

We can argue the merits endlessly, but I'm still a traditionalist and want the full effect when I'm on the bridge. Too bad somebody removed my lower station and glassed the 'shield in. Having an enclosure when making long runs is a definite plus.

I can't imagine why...

Hey, you've got Rybovitch outriggers! So do I. Now our boats have something in common besides the brand.

petohazy, very nice!

How do those tinted windows work out when running at night?

Thanks! I haven't run her at night yet, but the forward helm windows are only tinted at the top and bottom. Visibility out at night at the dock seems fine though:) There's always the tuna tower option at night!
The reason the helm looks so dark is the black canvas covers on the inside. Not as dark when I pull them off.

That bridge is nicer than my house. I think you have more bathrooms too. :(

The whole boat is nicer than my house! Same layout though, 3 bedrooms/3 baths. We refer to her as our future retirement home.

Spectacular boat...there is so much room down below, I think I'd want an open bridge, too... did that model even come with an open bridge? Anyway, it's a great-looking boat; the crew stateroom is bigger than all the interior space I have.
