I know there are many New England members on here and I was wondering what views anyone might have on the DeflateGate issue and if it should effect the Super Bowl with suspensions. If it's found out that Brady and Belichick are not being truthful about the balls, wouldn't that be an act of trying to gain an advantage, such as a performance enhancing drug? If so, should they be suspended immediatley like they would if caught taking a PED?
I believe they're lieing, and I think they knew, and purpously wanted the balls that way. When a ball is wet there is less of a chance of fumbling and it's much easier to catch a softer ball.

I played football from midget's all the way through college and I can instantly tell if a ball is softer than normal. My positions were QB, Safety and I also punted and kick in H.S. College I played Saftey. I'm not an professional or expert on ball feel but if there ever was one it would be a professional QB and the Patriots happen to have one of the best. He said he likes his balls a certain way, but he didn't notice they were soft, I just can't believe it.

I hope I'm wrong, I hope there is some sort of explination because I totally enjoy the game of football and want nothing more than the game and the NFL to continue to grow. My fear is if this is true, and it's not handled properly it can effect the overall integrity of the game and take away from it's popularity.

As I see it it's a Lose Lose for the NFL if they lied.

1. Come down hard, Suspend the QB and or Coach and ruin the best game of the year "OR"
2. Give them a slap on the wrist and people will question the Cheatriot's Championships even more because people will see how the NFL and Owner Bob Krafts buddy Commissioner Goodell just gave Belicheat and the Cheatriots special consideration.

The NFL threatened to suspend Marshawn Lynch from the SB if he wore Gold Shoes. They did suspended Sean Payton for a year because ignorence to what happened in NO wasn't an excuse. So if found to be true, Belichicks ingnorence, and Brady blatent stepping on rules for his comfort of the way he likes the balls calls for an immediate suspension. If the NFL doesn't follow through with this in this manner people willagain think the Patriots get special treatment.

Any Thoughts?

I don't know. I think you're taking it way too seriously. After all, it's the Patriots, and Kraft owns them. Of course they're going to cheat if they can.

The whole thing sounds a lot like a Johann Strauss operetta.

And now ladies and gentlemen we present Die Flater-maus.

Good One,,,, not to be taken serious, didn't mean for it to come out that way. Just in good fun wondering what peoples views may be on this with the final week of the season leading up to the "Big Game"

Both Teams used the same balls during the game.

If there was an advantage to using an under inflated ball then both teams got it.

In most sports the rules are there to ensure one competitor or team does not get an "unfair advantage" over the other competitor(s) or team(s). I don't really know how the Patriots would have received an unfair advantage over the Seahawks. Keeping in mind it is not just the QB that touches the ball. There is the center, place kick holder, kicker, punter, running backs, and receivers all need to feel comfortable with the ball(s). If the under inflation was that significant to be an advantage to one QB over the other it would still not influence the game outcome in any significant way since all the other players on the team would need to be more comfortable with the "softer ball".

My 2 cents FWIW.

Now ask me a question about hockey!

The NFL has it covered, just in case. :)

As per media the teams do not use the same ball that is why only because of a interception there was a question of air pressure raised!

Hmmmmmm.

So the Patriots only use their balls when they are on offence and the Seahawks only use their balls when they are on offence? Who created that rule? That seems absurd (to this poor feeble Canadian) or the NFL is _________ ( I don't want to get sued here)!

Not absurd at all. Guys like to play with their own balls. Otherwise, it 's just not natural.

After the last Seahawk game comeback. I don't think balls are going to matter. But Im rooting on my NW team.

Born in Seattle, so you know who I prefer. Must say Freebird has, so far, won this thread. main concern for Seahawks fans- is Brady just too cute to hurt?

I'll start watching football and get concerned about this kind of crap when they start paying these overgrown apes the same as the guys defending our freedom. Does anyone even care Bergdahl hasn't been convicted of desertion and treason yet??? Deflate gate!! What a joke!

AMEN! It's a shame when many of our military members are forced to use food stamps, WIC, etc. and many of the sports thugs are way overpaid. As for Bergdahl, handle it like they did in the World Wars. Swift punishment. Now, senior military leaders are now bad as congressmen. My Son has 4 years to hit his 20 and can't wait to get out.

When it comes to what's going on with the release of prisoners while not punishing Bergdal as of yet, I do care. I care about most of what goes on within OUR, Oval Office and Congress. I just know discussing politics on here upsets and hurts some members feeling so I stay away from mentioning it. I believe we need to keep the site informative, fun, and or mildly amusing. To me, sports has a little bit of all that, and not all but most people can relate in some way.

And now ladies and gentlemen we present Die Flater-maus.

Well done. I wish I'd thought of that one.

Belichick is from Annapolis. Hard to imagine anyone from Crabtown would cheat on anything.

Careful Jim. You just made a controversial statement and we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings...

I will not touch that statement in any way.

OTOH. Aren't things changing in pro sports?

Sadly we play with particularly soft balls in dealing with people in certain positions who fail to respect the truth.
