I know there are many New England members on here and I was wondering what views anyone might have on the DeflateGate issue and if it should effect the Super Bowl with suspensions. If it's found out that Brady and Belichick are not being truthful about the balls, wouldn't that be an act of trying to gain an advantage, such as a performance enhancing drug? If so, should they be suspended immediatley like they would if caught taking a PED?
I believe they're lieing, and I think they knew, and purpously wanted the balls that way. When a ball is wet there is less of a chance of fumbling and it's much easier to catch a softer ball.
I played football from midget's all the way through college and I can instantly tell if a ball is softer than normal. My positions were QB, Safety and I also punted and kick in H.S. College I played Saftey. I'm not an professional or expert on ball feel but if there ever was one it would be a professional QB and the Patriots happen to have one of the best. He said he likes his balls a certain way, but he didn't notice they were soft, I just can't believe it.
I hope I'm wrong, I hope there is some sort of explination because I totally enjoy the game of football and want nothing more than the game and the NFL to continue to grow. My fear is if this is true, and it's not handled properly it can effect the overall integrity of the game and take away from it's popularity.
As I see it it's a Lose Lose for the NFL if they lied.
1. Come down hard, Suspend the QB and or Coach and ruin the best game of the year "OR"
2. Give them a slap on the wrist and people will question the Cheatriot's Championships even more because people will see how the NFL and Owner Bob Krafts buddy Commissioner Goodell just gave Belicheat and the Cheatriots special consideration.
The NFL threatened to suspend Marshawn Lynch from the SB if he wore Gold Shoes. They did suspended Sean Payton for a year because ignorence to what happened in NO wasn't an excuse. So if found to be true, Belichicks ingnorence, and Brady blatent stepping on rules for his comfort of the way he likes the balls calls for an immediate suspension. If the NFL doesn't follow through with this in this manner people willagain think the Patriots get special treatment.
Any Thoughts?
