Sorry I started this and disappearred. Just got back today ( 9 days!!). No free wireless internet the last few days. We were inside from last Friday, from St Augustine until Thursday when we left Hampton Roads, Va for Atlantic City. The ICW was really tedious, but not really bad when you kind of got into the rythm and the protocols of running inside. Lots of crybabies, but mostly great folks along the way. We left Atlantic City at 6am this morning and backed into the slip in Westbrook, Ct at 2:30. Quite a run!Outside all the way from A.C. around Montauk, NY to Westbrook.
We had some nice and some really interesting stops along the way. St. Augustine, Fl, St. Simons, Ga(take the free ride offer to Outback Steak House), Hilton Head, SC(Harbour Town Marina; free bottle of wine with fuel!!), Bald Head Island, SC, Bellhaven, Ga (really creepy, but an awsome place to stop over; River Forest Marina), Bluewater Yacht Yard, Hampton Roads, Va (great place), and finally Atlantic City, NJ.
The 48' Ocean is a really nice vessel. I lived on it and helped run it for 9 days, 8-10 hours each day. The equipment was exceptional and very redundant. The boat pretty much ran itself in types of conditions and situations. Still, not a Hatt. Much lighter but, of course, that is why we were running about 25 knots at 1932rpms.
Nice to be home and see my old Hatt m.y. again!
I'll try to answer any questions. Reply here or PM me.
I'm glad to be home.
