Makes you want to go out and run at 2000 rpms for a couple of days, doesn't it?! :D

Clearwater City Marina is one of my favorite places to stop - or go to.

Its a nice place, its well taken care of, they've got great floating docks, pumpout at your slip (with the hoses in dock boxes on deck for you to use), fuel is reasonable, transient slip rates are reasonable and there's a decent selection of restraurants within walking distance.

What's not to like?

I paid $3.41, in Westbrook, CT this weekend. I need to go south.

Port Jefferson was $4.50 / gallon a few weeks back!! I only took on enough to get me home where it is (as of yesterday) $2.89

Hey guys, I was wondering if the lower gas prices I was seeing had trickled down to the diesel pumps in FL. I'lll be curious to see what fuel prices are at RD when I go down this week-end. They offer discounts to marina residents and I'm setting on empty

I'm sure I can find that marina on my charts just in case it works out to be worth the trip, but where exactly is it located?

Clearwater City Marina?

Go in the Clearwater Inlet (its the next "real" one north of the Tampa Approach), go to the end of the inlet lane and turn Port. Its about a half-mile up from there on the left side.

Impossible to miss; they've always been listening on 16 when I've been headed that way during "regular bizness hours".

Well, since you asked: I found that leaving the marina just before sunrise was a bit tricky with the "tour boat" channel and the channel to the pass going out. I must admit that at dead idle I actually nosed into a sand bar on the "wrong" side of a marker! NOT a fun way to start a 145 mile offshore jump to Apalachicola! Luckily I grabbed neutral just as the depth sounder was quickly going from 4.0 down to --! A brief moment to figure out where I was supposed to be, reversed both gears and within a second or two we were free. WHEW! First time I have ever met bottom and hopefully the LAST!

Honestly that is an excellent marina with great fuel prices in a nice part of town.

Montauk

This weekend Star Island $2.99 cash $3.15 Card.
I don't consider that cheap but figured I post it for comparision  .

I have a land clearing buissnes with my brother in-law and we can buy diesel at the local distruibuter for 30% less than on the road, when it was 2.99 we where at 2.09 and on the water is way out there like 3.99. the truck that delivers my fuel , I got some Saturday for 2.65 But he buys it wholesale at the same distruibuter we use for the buissnes but our trailer only holds 150 gallons 3x 55 gallon barells any more and you need a special license ,and to fuel on water you need special insurance.

No kidding...we just paid 2.95 in Naptown. I have a feeling that gasoline is going to drop but diesel isn't, since it comes out of the same place in the barrel as home heating oil, which is coming into demand.

Jim-

I gassed up at Lowe's Wharf yesterday, and diesel was around $2.50 (unsure b/c I got gas at $3 gallon). Its about the same at the workboat dock in Knapps Narrows. You may want to check into it.

$2.85 a gal yesterday at Lambs Marina in Jacksonville, was $2.95 last week.

Miami - $2.36 at Peterson fuel barge yesterday. Gentlemen, start your engines! :)

I'll bet I can handle the 1000 gallons. I need to know what the actual capacity of my bow tank anyway. Maybe I'll carry an extra bladder just in case as to not miss out on that discounted rate by a few gallons.

Are these cash prices or will they take plastic?

Randy,
I do not want you to miss out on the discount! I am a little south of Clearwater and if you need a place to dump the extra fuel, I will volunteer my tank. What are friends for? Dave

Dave,

Was that an offer to take me fishing? I'll be a Riviera Dunes as of Friday of this week. I can use all the friends I can get! ;)

I am going to the East Coast this weekend. But maybe I can sneak down to RD sometime. Maybe now that the fuel is coming down, I can even bring the boat!

Be sure to wash it before you come, they have very strict standards down there.

PS I came in at night! :D

Then I might have to go to Regatta point and dinghy to RD.
