I just called my wholesale fuel supplier and he said today's price is $2.29! I guess it may be time to top off the tanks. He feels it will get cheaper. Hopefully so!

Just saw an article today that theorizes that gasoline may be as low as $1.15 within the next two years. It seems that after all of the governments across the world stocked up because of mid-east fear, they are all full now.

Hey, you guys need to stop the chatter about lower fuel prices. I'm trying to negotiate a deal on a 70CMY in CA with 12V71TI's. I need to convince the seller of how much it's going to cost me to get this thing back to FL so I can make a better deal.

I'm working on a fake newspaper right now where the headline predicts $5.00 per gallon diesel by the first of October. I plan to carry it to the brokers office next week.

Anybody have any connections with a cable news channel out of Newport Beach? :D

We fuel at Ocracoke Island in NC. The Anchorage Marine there has diesel for $2.59. And it seems to be coming down. Just in case you are passing through NC, it is a good place to stop over.

It was nice to wind those 12v71s up to 2000 rpm and let the big dogs eat. It made for short work of the Big "O" crossing.

Yeah, it was nice to have mine hummin along at 2100 before I ran em dry on my Maiden Voyage From Hell! :o

Things haven't been the same since! Hearing only one at 1700 just aint the same.

As of today, the diesel price has dropped 30 cents a gal in the past 2 weeks at the local marina next to me....

Now it's "only" $2.65 a gal.

By the same token, the gas prices at the local gas stations have gone from a high of $3.05 from about 2 months ago to $2.31 a gal.

Only need about 200 gals to top off my tanks, but think I will wait a bit longer and see if it keeps dropping.

My "safety net" is that I'm good friends with the dockmaster over there and he told me he would call me before any price increase takes place..... ( See, a 12 pack of beer to him ever few months pays off for more than free pumpouts)

I filled up with a truck delivery before the prices started coming down and paid $2.58 a gallon. Wonder what it is now?

Now for the $200,000 question: Do I top off now before pulling her for the winter, or do I wait until spring and take my chances? I could take probably 400gal now, so........

In the south filling up is better so you don't collect condensation water but your fuel needs to be treated I got this stuff after reading a thred here but they sent me someother stuff with there label? I can't remember the thred xtr stx ??? the guy said it's the same fuel conditioner they alow us to put our label on it  he probubly sold me a quart of diesel for $50.00  next time I'll order from the site ..

Top off now! The oil companies are lowering the prices prior to the fall election. Huge profits are not politically correct and the voting public might do something radical like vote for a politician with an energy policy (other than ask the oil companies what they want!). In the spring, the oil companies will be back to business as usual.

That's the million dollar question. The answer has much to do the how the 3 W's (Weather, Wind & War) pan out during the next 6 months. Spot market is currently at $61/barrel. Fundemental's indicate that this is still 10-20% higher than the low resistance level. World inventories of all thermal fuel is very high. Prediction is for a mild winter. Oversea demand is showing increased interest in LPG as opposed to crude. $55/bl is within 50% probablity and $50/bl is within the 25% probability range.

So, for me, I'm wintering with empty tanks. Next spring should be cheaper as long as the 3 W's behave.

I cant say anything about the 3 W's as I do boat all year round so have to get fuel all the time.

Have read on other sites that the gas companies change WHAT they put in gas in the winter as opposed to the summer so topping off the boat tanks is best done now as it "last longer" before you must add a stablizer.

Just wonder if that's also true of diesel....

Seems to me a full tank beats an empty tank, but I was born and have lived in Florida all my 55 yrs....

But again, to me, winterizing means wearing socks and long pants from time to time.

Year 'round boating is great...The whole condensation thing is a myth according to David Pascoe on yachtsurvey.com

I've read that Cetane levels drop significantly during the 6 month winter nap. In the past, I have boosted Cetane with a good dose of Diesel Kleen just before layup.

The only risk of storing empty is possible accumulation of condensate, but to be honest, I have never found a drop of water in my fuel seperators. Pascoe also has a article on the myth of condensation in fuel tanks. According to him, most fuel/water problems stem from poor seals on your fuel fill cap.

I'm storing empty and will fill up with fresh diesel in the spring. I'm also betting I'll save a boat buck by waiting.

This is RIGHT ON THE MARK!!!! I would much rather have fresh fuel then save a few bucks which may turn out to be pay me now or pay me much more later!!!

Fuel has changed store empty no matter what fuel you burning!!!

If anyone can remember that thred we had on the fuel additive I went online to find but this is what I got the guy says its the same he has rights to put his label on??? I found it.. the name was AJK and diesel kleen
