I'll take tile over carpet any day.

Carpet's warmer. Tile makes my toes and nose cold.

Then you need to take some lessons in tile... uh, cleaning, because you're clearly doing it wrong.

Well now we are back on topic.

Sorta. It's an historical fact that Linda Lovelace's mother went down on the Titanic.

Which was also destroyed and broken up, although expecting anything to remain straight and functional after an encounter with such a woman might be unreasonable.

And the more we look at it, the more it seems like that sport fisher was blown apart.

Like Sky said its a run down. I've seen several expolsions back in the heyday of gassers and usually it blows out the windows and hatches with a resultant fire but not the typical "Miami Vice" blown to pieces deal. The cut by the tow cable happens more than you think. I personaly know of of 2 instances in tournements off Cape May where boats ended up between the tug and the barge. Those of us with USCG MMD and STCW know or should know the light signals for how long the tow is but most recreational boaters do not. Wether it was a ship or barge they screwed up big time. Anyone that counts on a large vessel to advoid them is crazy.

You are 100%correct. We sord fish here in NC just on the edge of the stream. We drift with light sticks inside squid. Anyway the freighters turning south at diamond shoals
head straight for fryingPan they seem to be one after the other. With a good pair of glases you can see them in the wheel house watching sat tv they do not give a flip and will not answer a radio, Bottom line you must be on lookout for your own but cause they are sure not watching. If you feel they will change corse you just playing chicken and you going to loose. Tim

This one happened in January. It did a bit more than popping the windows out. Pieces are smaller because the boat was wood.

I'm not saying a run-down couldn't obliterate a boat, just that it'd have to be a dead center hit or the boat would tend to deflect off the side of the ship and bounce down the side of it rather than be crunched under the hull. The bow bulb on a lot of big ships helps keep that from happening too.

For impact to take a boat apart like that it'd need to be an immense and very solid hit. There was a boat in my marina's yard (upper 40' range motoryacht, not sure what brand) a few years back that smacked head on into one of the giant concrete pilings on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge at speed. The guy had it on autopilot and went below to do something or other and bang. Dead center hit at 15kts.

It split the stem to the water line, and popped the hull to deck joint for about a third of the boat's length. The boat was trashed, and half sunk by the time the salvage guys got it, but it was still in one piece. That's 15 kts closure speed and total energy transfer. It would have taken a lot more to totally obliterate the boat like the one in the original post.

Naah. My money is still on it popping.

Here's one done on purpose on youtube:

And here's a suspected fuel explosion that happened down here in Florida. Notice how the cabin roof came off in one piece.
