    Ice maker shutoff.

Yes it is T'd with the bar sink. The water goes to the filter and then out to the sink and the ice maker. If they didn't supply shutoff valves to the other plumbing, why would they have supplied one to the ice maker?:) I did find an inexpensive (compared to U-Line) ice maker that fit in there...

    Hand Rails

Seven made me finally deal with my hand rails. To be honest, they were low on my list, till I saw how well his came out, so I finally bit the bullet and hired my next door boat neighbor to refinish them. He is into it and all of his teak is finished nicely. I went with Cetol rather than varnish...

    New Washer/Dryer

Here is an image of them installed. I also added an LED strip light at the top. I am debating putting the door back (it was already sized for stacking front loaders) or trimming it out and living it open (less doors to open to do laundry).

    New Washer/Dryer

I finally got around to replacing the washer/dryer on the boat. The PO had installed a stacked front loading washer and dryer in 2011, but the dryer didn't work when I got it (broken belt) and the washer didn't work well (busted support bolt). I thought about repairing them but they were an off...

    Lavatory Faucet Cartridges

Does anyone know the cartridges required to replaces the inner workings of the faucets in the sinks in the heads? Mine work but are tight on some of the faucets. 1978 53 MY.

    CO2 Fire Supression System

While moving the new fridge down to the galley, we triggered the CO2 system emergency pull. The panel was unscrewed and leaning so we could fit the fridge. I was on one end and my wife and son on the other. I told them to lift but it seems that when something is doing the lifting for them, it is...

    Galley Sink Fittings

I know this has been discussed elsewhere, but what is required to connect a standard faucet line (like you get with a kitchen faucet from Home Depot) to the copper lines in the boat? I have two female copper lines, one for hot, one for cold. When I stopped them up, I used a 1/2" brass plug, that...

    counter rotating engines?

    The model numbers on the engines will tell you which is which. From my manual... PORT: 70823300 = 7 (V71) 08 (8 Cylinders) 2 (Marine) 3 (CW) 3 (Turbo) 00 (Model) STBD: 70827300 = 7 (V71) 08 (8 Cylinders) 2 (Marine) 7 (CCW) 3 (Turbo) 00 (Model) I don't think the transmissions alter the...

    wifi gauge senders

I think if you want to connect to the engine data via WiFi (iPhone etc) specifically, then Chetco is the choice. I was between the Noland and Chetco (they are roughly the same price). Like I wrote in my original post, Noland happened to be next door and there are next to no real life stories out...

Planning a complete electronics update on the 53

So, I have a QNAP NAS and PC installed in my lower helm (inside). The NAS is used to record and store shows and movies and can record security cameras. The PC is connected to my NEMA network which also connects to a digital/analog device that can monitor gauges, bilge pumps etc. All of this is...

    Sink Water Lines

What size are the copper lines connecting the sink? I am not at the boat and want to pick up a couple of valves to install on the way.

    Replacing the Classic Stereo

I still have the original Harman/Kardon, 1978, and it works well. I don't have any immediate plans to replace it, but if I did, it would be with an inexpensive fusion stereo (I have Garmin displays). I would install it in the overhead console at the helm though, and then run wires back to the...

Crew/Bow stateroom AC access on 53 MY?? It's behind my large mirror isn't it:(

It is behind the mirror. The hatch with "Galley" on it. As others have said, it is only the air handler. The compressor is in the engine room, and services both the crew cabin and guest cabin.

    Plank versus Vinyl

I am in the middle of re-doing the galley, and I was pretty much decided on vinyl because I felt it would be a better fit to a floor in a boat, but now I am looking at the laminate planking. Does the laminate planking stay down well?

    Source for DC breakers

Anyone have a source for the DC breakers in our boats? They look like Blue Sea C-Series single pole breakers, but they do not seem to be available with a black toggle switch.

    Dogs on Boats

We brought our pug on the boat for the first time, and he got so anxious (panting and hyperventilating) that we had to take him home. We tried twice, same result. Yet he has stayed at a strange house (kennel) before and no issues. Must be the constant slight movement of the boat? Has anyone else...

    Generator Backup Battery

The marina decided to work on electric but never let me know, and I only find out once my 12v battery is dead and my boat goes offline. I have been meaning to put a second 12v battery dedicated to the generator, I did put a 2 bank charger in.:) Anyways, I ran down to AutoZone and bought one of...
