So....

How to you gain access to the original AC unit above the Washer Dryer in the Crew Stateroom on the 53 MY's?

Is it behind my large glued in mirror behind the Galley Table isn't it.

If the supply grill is behind the mirror, yes.

The supply is above the wash dry door. But, it's smaller then the radiator and the return is a step lower by the top bunk. I don't see any cuts on the centerline wall, so there is either a magic process to get up there, or it's behind the mirror. I GUESS, I could always cut it out the above the Washer Dry.

Anyone one to 2nd the access through the gallery?

pull the return air grill and look inside the cabinet. you should be able to see an access hole if it is behind the mirror. most 53mys and 58yfs that i have seen have an access panel behind where your mirror is

On mine the access was thru the washer dryer cabinet. There was an access panel above the dryer.

Just to be sure, only thr evaporator and blower are in there. The compressor is in the port ER.

Likely top inboard unit.

It is behind the mirror.

The hatch with "Galley" on it.

As others have said, it is only the air handler. The compressor is in the engine room, and services both the crew cabin and guest cabin.

Hmmmm
i don’t love that answer!

yes the compressor is split to the vip stateroom and crew stateroom. And with the crew unit down it blows the compressor. Maybe I install a stand-alone in the crew and fine a 5-6 k compressor unit to drive the vip? Maybe tap the vip off the master?

recommendations?

recommendations?

As stated above, remove the registers and peek in there.... then.... remove the mirror.

Replacing a mirror is a whole lot less work than installing a stand alone and another compressor. Not to mention the money, down time and aggravation. Stand alones are noisy. Right behind your head when you sit in that dinette. Every time. And, maybe you don't really want a mirror there. Put a nice art work there, or a nice picture of the boat. Wouldn't wanna look at my ugly mug every time I come down those steps.... :p

Get to what needs fixing, whatever it takes, fix it and then put it back together and make sure the pathway is clear next time, as there will be a next time. Maybe not for you but for the next custodian.

Do it right.

The air handler isn’t going to come in and out of the grill. Check the closet. On mine the whole closet face was removable to gain access to the washer and dryer and above the dryer was an access panel to get to the AH

Running a water hose from the ER is going to be a pita if you try installing a self contained.

I would pull off the sea cocks in the front bilge.
