It seems to me that all parties were “bottom fishing” and were both surprised that they caught exactly what they were fishing for. I can’t even tell you how many brokerages I’ve seen go out of business over the decades because they chose to specialize in boats who's peak years of manufacture was 1989. And I’m talking back when they were still young enough to find insurance and dockage.
I'm not sure that's such a reasonable take. The boat business tends to be weekend oriented, that's when most people have time off from work to meet with a broker, tour boats, or buy boats. The broker blowing up at him because he called about a boat for sale on a Saturday seems pretty out-of-touch at best. So does getting mad about calling on his cellphone, that was the number in the ad, the buyer didn't write the ad, the broker did. The guy sounds like a jackass IMHO.
