Looking at the tide chart for Captiva, I will likely change it up and arrive Thursday 8/31 as the full moon low tide is at 6:54 PM on 8/30. If I leave my dock by 9AM on 8/30, that puts me getting in at almost dead low tide on a full moon.

High Tide on Thursday 8/31 is at 12:30 PM and is ~3.3 feet above MLW which should be enough water with some margin.

The water entering the inlet to the marina is decently clear so it looks shallower than it is. But you can also easily see the darkest deepest water. Been there 2 times with a 4"4" draft and neither time did I kick up any sand.

I emailed and got the following response from Harbor Master on what to expect.

Hello Mike,

Sorry for the delayed response as I was out of the office Sunday and Monday.

The dockage rate is $2.00 per foot plus electric per night. IF there is to be a pool ready it would be the pool with the water slides. The other 2 pools overlooking the Bay will not be ready. The pool with the water slides has many inspections and rules it must follow to open, and we can not commit to it being ready by 9/1. The resort understands 100% that a pool is very critical, and they are doing as much as they can to make it happen as they work with health inspectors.

As of today 8/8 ~ What is open
Marina w/ fuel, ice, new bbq grills, restrooms (no showers) & lawn games
Beach set up at sun set beach, chairs, umbrellas, taco food truck (11am-5pm) & restrooms
Starbucks Coffee Shop 7am - 230pm
Sandwich food truck in same plaza as Starbucks (11am - 5pm)
Are a limited number of homes and units for rent
As if today 8/8 ~ What is not open
No transportation (trolley)
No restaurants on property including Doc Fords
No pool complex

We suggest bringing bicycles or renting golf carts from YOLO 239-472-9656 to get into the small town of Captiva for additional food options.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the follow up Mike!

No problem. So at this point who is going? My friends 48 has engine problems so he is out. We are good to go. Well, after 3rd attempt to fix a turbo leak. I was not home but I know this time they took the turbo to the shop. No charge. Anclote stands behind their work. Minor leak anyway, just shouldn't be there.

Anyway I do hope a pool gets ends up getting opened. Gulf is nice but a pool is good too. We plan on bringing some goodies to share. I have a Sidebar Beverage dispenser and everyone is welcome to an open bar when aboard Esperanza. I bought my first Hatteras (the 34) in 1992. Got some stories from over the years and looking forward to others.

I'll be there on Katerina. Will check on another 58LRC in Ft. Myers and a 61MY in Cape Coral.

Is there space available still? I though my buddy with the 58 said he called and no space....

J

I don't know about space. Need to contact Harbor Master. Might just be a few of us but good all the same. It will be nice to see the marina full as it was nearly deserted last time. If it's full it's going to be a huge dock party because that's all that's really open!

Miss Maggie will be there Thursday around 1 PM.

Sounds like another 58LRC will be joining us. I spoke with the owner of "Amazing Grace" this morning and he is planning to be there

Guess I'll be the little Hat!

I just heard from the other 58LRC in Ft. Myers. He plans to meet up at Pelican Bay. Not sure he can get a reservation at South Seas, but we'll see.

We plan on getting to Pelican Bay earlier on Friday to enjoy a day in the dink at the sandbar. If my generator gives me fits I'm gonna find a 58 to plug into.:D:D:D:D

Zigzag, are you planning on an overnight at Pelican Bay on Friday?

I just spoke with the marina. I extended our stay to arrive earlier on Thursday. We ended up with an extra day since we are leaving earlier. Still planning on overnight at Pelican Bay but I'll have a slip waiting if our generator has any issues. Been having a problem with air sometimes getting into the Racor. Have to address that this winter.

Anyway the marina definitely has room for more boats. FYI in case anyone wants to go last minutes. My friends 48 has been upgraded to "maybe".:D

Yes, Planning to arrive at Pelican Bay (area) Friday around noon.

Not sure we will go into the bay itself as the depths are "tight" and generally a nicer breeze if anchoring right off the entrance to PB, which keeps the bugs away. Guess we'll see when we get there what the tides, winds, etc are doing. We were planning to run down to South Seas from PB, Saturday AM and expect to get there around 11-12.

FYI, anchoring off Useppa is another nice option if we wind up with a few more boats....

Zigzag, are you planning on an overnight at Pelican Bay on Friday?

We are there on Friday. Any genny issues and I can return to slip at south Seas. But we are most likely good. Taking the dink to the sandbar with the dogs. Pretty cool spot.

Madhatter can you PM me your contact information? The new owner of my 55C is interested in going but he is not on here. He keeps the boat in Tarpon Springs at the city marina

Email is LVS_ mike@hotmail.com. But he should join here for conversation and info of course. Email is fine though. Are you going? They have room for more and I could use some backup on the small boat thing!😂😂😂

Also all he has to do is call south Seas for a slip. They have room. Mention the Hatteras get together and be slipped in same area.

Roger. I passed this information to him. His name is Lynn and also goes by David. I can't make it. I have a red snapper trip planned on Saturday leaving out of Hernando Beach. I have several going that need to be back Sunday afternoon

If you catch too many red snapper I’m here to help out!😁

Miss Maggie will be there Thursday around 1 PM.

Winds should be letting up Wednesday night but rollers will still be out there in the morning. We are going to cancel Tween Waters and hunker down in Bradenton (now a normal thing every trip it seems). Will head out Thursday morning and hoping to run the gulf. Depends on when the wind lets up. We are nothing close to a 58 LRC but our 46 is a beast in a sea for its size. We’ll run outside if we can.
