Jim i hope your friend has a spot reserved at Coinjock for the storm cause i was there on Monday and spent the night and i was told i could not stay any longer then Monday night cause they were booked solid for the storm we had to back track to Tidewater in Portsmouth and all the other boats that were there that were heading South also back tracked...as a matter of fact one went to the free dock across from AYB cause he could not get a place north...

He had a spot, which I think he gave up. They were taking 6-8' seas on the nose, every three seconds. And this is a guy who makes his living running dive charters out of Hatteras Inlet. It was just too rough to go sixty plus miles up to Coinjock. You know what they say about old captains, and bold captains, but no old bold captains. I would have done exactly as he did.

"The wind up, the pitch!" But West End Bahama has been beat up with so much crap over the years. This is insult to injury.

Scott,

Don't wait to evacuate. Roads will get real crowded very fast. Go early. Get a hotel if you can well inland and have that first drink. Be safe,

Bobk

Scott left early this afternoon when I was talking to him he was on the road and no traffic. He was heading to a house west of Tampa his wife, son and dog were there already.
Secured everything the best he could and got out of town now just pray!

We're in winter garden waiting it out. What a scary storm. No way to get many boats hauled. No where to run to. My canal has my hatt, a 34 from a customer and 3 more plus 5 on lifts . I hope I tied them well enough but since the minute I left I thought to myself I should have done this or that.

We have a few friends on their boats or at the beach that wouldn't leave. I am no wimp but this one was the first to scare me and I've been through a Dozzen already.

May we all fair well and be safe.

If not I'll be posting a link to my new go fund me page.

I hope all goes well for you!

Stay safe!

Being scared of this one doesn't make you a whimp it makes you smart. Much easier to replace your stuff than for your wife and son to have to deal with you being hurt or killed. I was going to head up the Hudson and ride out Sandy but I couldn't afford to risk what could happen to my family if something happened to me. Be safe and be certain you made the right choice.

40 ropes on 2 boats. I ran out of space on cleats. After this if she survives I'm adding 4 more cleats on the deck and 2 more in the cockpit.

BIG ONES! You can never have too much cleat space.

Right, I added bow deck cleats on my 36C, the mooring post was a hopeless mess.

Here's the one I upgraded to.
