I am so sorry all of you East Coasters are having to deal with this. Let's just pray it's not a huge disaster.

Current track has it looping back, just like the Euro model had earlier. Fla could get hit twice by the same storm! has this ever happened before?

Happened on the west coast of Florida years ago.

Everybody in the Chesapeake area can thank me for making them safe. I hauled the hatt today and prepped/stored all the other boats for the storm. This should mean NOTHING will happen here.

I hauled out yesterday. Mine was a planned haulout for bottom paint and new swim platform install. The timing just happened to work with what may have been coming weather-wise. I'm just as happy that BoatUS won't be paying for half of it. BTW, I drilled a 5/8" hole in the aft end of the keel and only a few drops of water came out. Surprised by that.

Well, spent all day moving the boat to Lambs Marine, Jacksonville and preparing it for this big event. I've done all I can. Now it's in the hands of a higher authority. I hope this storm passes and does minimal damage & not affect the health & welfare of all in its path.

Now I'm getting the house ready being on the marsh in St Marys Ga. Prayers for all...

go purchase 60 more and test your theory!!!

I don't think so. At the rate this is going Florida might cease to exist. I probably should have only bought 15. :p

Be careful down there everybody. You're in our thoughts and prayers. Be prepared, be strong and above all, be safe.

I hope no one on this forum (or anyone else) does something dumb like riding out the storm to try to save the boat. Not worth it, that's why we are insured. I wish everyone good luck and stay safe.

The westward shift of the track convinced us to delay departure from BYC until after the storm passes the Bay. AYB is well with in the various model paths.

Bobk

Bobk we went AYB yesterday doing our back track from Coinjock to Tidewater in VA and AYB looked like a can of sardines with all the boats docked so close in there...

I hope you east coast guys ride this out OK, it's looking ugly right now.
I'm in Portland Maine visiting my son who is captain of a commercial tuna boat. I went with him a couple days ago to help run the 68C he's on weekends to Lyman Morse's yard in Camden to get her in a safe hurricane hole. It will stay there on the hard this winter, he took her there early due to the storm.
Naturally, the forecast track changed, but it was a good call as Casco bay (Portland area) has 40 miles of fetch to the northeast and offers almost no protection from that direction.

I was on the haulout list at Smith's; I suspect the list is now gathering dust. I still have to worry about my NC house, but the folks who take care of it have decided they don't need to put the shutters up; they will call me if things change.

Worried about you all in FL and neighboring parts- hope everyone and their boats are safe.

Krush, thank you for singlehandedly turning the storm away from us up here on the Chesapeake. Your check will arrive shortly.

Thanks. I expected that they would be jammed up. I'll call to see if they will have room for me next week. If those boats are local, they will need places to go back to. If cruisers, they should be gone in a week.

South is safer than central. Port canaveral is closed and has to be evacuated by noon tomorrow.

No place to bring a boat for dockage or hauling in the area and the more north the worse it can be.

It's going to be interesting here as we have no place to hide if it's going to slide up the coast.

I bought a lot of booze. It's all to be for my "the hurricane petered out" party.

Save some of that booze for the aftermath party. I am with you and thank you for all the help so far. I hope Main Event is still on her stands after this but seeing the new path this morning all bets are off. May everyone be safe!

One of my friends started to move his boat from Hatteras village area to Coinjock yesterday. The weather in Pamlico Sound was so appallingly bad he turned around and went back. And the storm isn't even here yet.

It's hot , sunny and 10 mph wind in cocoa beach. Not like expected but they predict it will get real bad. We're finishing packing up and ready to evacuate. Those who chose to stay please do not call for help. Do not put our police, fire and natonal guardsmen in danger. It was your choice so put your head between your legs and kiss yous ass goodbye

Remember it will he more than rough out ther. Beyond hatteras weather.

Good luck to all. Cary what you can. Say goodbye to the rest. Just get to safety.

Scott,

Don't wait to evacuate. Roads will get real crowded very fast. Go early. Get a hotel if you can well inland and have that first drink. Be safe,

Bobk

Just saw an idiot 20 something year old in Palm Beach say she's fine and will stay at home with her bathtub full of water. Claims she was born and raised in Fl and has been through this many times. Doubt she was old enough to understand and deal with the seriousness of the '04 and '05 Hurricane seasons. Fl has been fortunate to have had relatively un eventful seasons since then. Let's hope this storm doesn't bring back those awful destructive days.

Jim i hope your friend has a spot reserved at Coinjock for the storm cause i was there on Monday and spent the night and i was told i could not stay any longer then Monday night cause they were booked solid for the storm we had to back track to Tidewater in Portsmouth and all the other boats that were there that were heading South also back tracked...as a matter of fact one went to the free dock across from AYB cause he could not get a place north...

I had to laugh, but it isn't funny, really. That's one of the people who is going to be yelling for help (excuse me, 'hep", it's the South) and putting the lives of first responders at risk. I don't understand what part of "evacuate" they don't get. It's frustrating.
