Absent without leave is more like it.

I wish my boat had a place for one of those lights. I keep trying to figure out where I could mount one on my boat. Just for grins.

Heard from reliable source that same boat "ran into island" in the Bahamas earlier this year and was repaired there.

Heard from reliable source that same boat "ran into island" in the Bahamas earlier this year and was repaired there.

The question is, who had the right of way?

Jack, Jack Daniels

And the Tv dome should still be good :p

No reason for it to be on it side beside the fact you have all these Gov agency's standing around saying we should do this or maybe that, and what if

That should have been off the beach in 24 hrs.

I've been in the market for a SatTV dome! Admirals getting bored w/ docks basic cable!
Maybe they'll also salvage some other equipment but this (very very sad) boats history cast a huge doubt about anything on her. Or this bozo will just keep re-floating & repairing her (obviously cannot see anyone would want to buy her except for salvage especially if the island grounding is her as seen in previous pics). It does certainly hurt to see such a magnificent, beautiful vessel end up in such a negligent/ reckless (complete idiot more or less)owner. As Endless stated, she's 'History'! Dan's also correct that she should have been off within 24hrs.

But I have a feeling this will not be the last we hear of this guy right?

Just a quick update. The owner of the vessel has been given thru the end of the weekend to remove the vessel, or be subject to fines. The captain has been charged. That's all so far. (The city and county are hoping he can come up with the money to remove it so the taxpayer doesn't get stuck with the bill). This view from Channel 25 shows how close to the inlet was...

The bottom looks in great shape. Fresh paint, clean running gear, and from what I can see not one Blister! Huh, who would've known? The bottom is in much better shape then the "Bottom Dweller" captain. Tony

So the captain isn't the owner? Curiouser and curiouser, as Alice said. The plot thickens.

If all the people who got screwed by this guy ever get together, he's going to end up wearing cement boots at the bottom of some channel.

Why are the props and rudders so far from the back of the boat?

Usually from a cockpit extension.

Simply put, you cannot fix stupid!

Yes, cockpit was added.

Do you keep your boat on the lake?

Just my Nautique on the lake. My 53MY is still in St. Pete. Looking to bring her around at the end of storm season. Have a slip reserved at Port Canaveral Yacht Club. Mainly gonna use her as lodging as I run my Whaler for fishing out of bluepoints.

The downside to the yacht club is fixed docks. I do a lot at cape and ocean club too. Ocean club has the nice floating docks

UPDATE TO THE STORY...
The 72' 1989 Hatteras TIME OUT was turned upright. Pumped out and towed away by a salvage company hired by the town of Palm Beach and Palm Beach County Tuesday. Here is one more picture from the Palm Beach Post that shows how close this captain came to the inlet without going in!...

The newspaper also noted that YES INDEED...the owner had been in "previous trouble" with the law. Including a 6 month prison term following a plea deal where he admitted to stealing and selling stolen exotic cars. (One of them was a $750,000 Ferrari that an FBI agent crashed and totaled while recovering it back in 2009).

According to the Palm Beach Post, this is the owners 3rd alcohol related arrest over the past 2 years. The most recent happened just LAST MONTH in Port Canaveral. The Brevard County Sheriffs Office says than in addition to a Blood Alcohol Level of .206, the captain was also cited with operating his vessel without a valid registration.

Add that to his Bahamas collision...What a story!!!!

Close only counts in horseshoes and handgrenades

many would be dead or in a coma at .206

Not really. I see these all the time. If they are unconscious, it's usually college or high school kids who are inexperienced drinkers who imbibed a lot very quickly, like at parties or frat house events. Folks like Mr. Baker who are likely to be daily alcohol abusers would probably be wide awake at .200 mg%, but not functioning very well. Witness the current fracas.

So has anyone heard where they towed her to, or what the disposition of the vessel is, or will be?
