  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
34' CONVERTIBLE (1965 - 1969)
I have had my 34 since 1992 but I am sure there is someone out there that has had one longer. I have restored, repowered, and upgraded over the years. It's now worth about 34 bucks (1 buck per foot) but the memories are priceless. And also it's never leaving the family, at least as long as I and my sons are alive.

Stories please! There are some golden and grand ones out there. And actual years don't count as much as what (good or bad) we go through.

This isn't even a contest. "Fanfare" has been owned by the same family since new. I have owned "Blue Note" since 1991, and I am not even in the running.

I assume continuous family ownership counts as one owner, right?

Yes sir. That counts. How long?

RSmith has had his 50C since the early '70's and had a new from the factory 34C before that. Started with his father and then to him.

I believe Jim Grove has had his since 1965. That has to be the record, with RSmith coming in a close second. I doubt anyone else can come close to those two.

But we all love our Hatts. I just spent 10 days aboard a brand X 45MY, and now I really love my Hatt.

I'm a newbie, 1985. Almost time to give the old girl a 50th bday party.

I guess I am still a "newbie".:D

I lose, 8 months.

15 years for me but how about Rsmith I think he has had his for for like 100 years :D

Well maybe not 100 but its been a LONG time for him.

We have named a few who have owned the same Hatt forever but what about serial Hatt owners like WalterP and DCameron?

That counts, too. Someone with forty years of serial Hatteras ownership should be in the running, too, seems to me.

I've only had one Hatteras. If I had bought the right boat to start with, I wouldn't have had three other boats.

Me too. For my first boat, I lived in a private lake community where we had a restriction on boat length. So....I sold that house when I felt like I outgrew my 20' pontoon boat, and bought a bigger boat (the first "Sanctuary"). It was a great house on a lake in Ohio - my dream house - I built that house with my own hands from the ground up - from excavation to that last piece of ornamental hardware on the kitchen cabinet drawer - with every perk I ever wanted (I had a 20' x 40' closet!). I eventually found my dream boat. The rest is history - I'm 9 years aboard (the second) Sanctuary, now. No regrets.

I'm a newbie too. I bought my first Hatt, a 1974 46C in 1999. Prior to the 46C I bought a new to me boat every 3 years. Had the 46 for almost 13 years before I bought the 65. My plan was to keep the 65 for 2-3 years and buy a 54/55 Hatt but 4 years later we have no plans or desires to sell unless the perfect deal comes my way on a Cat powered 54C/55C/60C. Either way my next boat will be another Hatt.

Fanfare is probably the longest owned, and, it probably tops the list with miles traveled per year as well.

I'm in almost 10 years but I tend to make the top 10 eventually. I'll let you know in 30 years.

10 here. Perhaps the longest for a current 43 DC owner.

New contest.. miles per year? I do about 3000 per year. Others?

i'm in for 9.5 years with the 58yf and before that i had a 46sf for 6.5 years. 16 years of hatteras ownership

My present 1982 Series I 48' MY is my 4th Hatteras in almost 40 years. During that time I started with a 43 DC followed by a Convertable, back to a 43 DC (this time with TI engines and queen bed in master) to present 48 (over 10 yrs). During that time I also owned a bunch of small boats including....gasp.... a couple of sail boats. I must say that of all the dozens of boats that I have had since my teens (I'm now 77..78 in a couple of months) the best built and best looking were Hatteras.

I believe that Jim Grove wins hands down as the longest owner of Hatteras in all catagories.... goes to show that if you have a winner, stick with it.
