We just finished installing our new copper risers. Paul @ Marine Manifolds (marinemanifolds.com) made them. He really did a nice job. We paid $3200 for all four units. I am very happy to be rid of those awful cast iron may pops that we had. Everyone tells us the iron ones should last between 4 and 7 years in salt water. If you push them too far you ruin an engine. Ours had been in salt water since October of 2006. Sounds like Russian Roulette to me. These copper replacements should last forever. We ran the boat on Biscayne Bay today and they seemed to perform flawlessly.:)

I wish I had known about copper risers at my last change. I went with the center lift manifolds and risers. Now it's difficult to work on the engine. All the new stuff is in the way.

Maynard,
Those are water cooled, risers, right? As a matter of general interest, do you know if the material is plain old, maybe heavy guage copper, or something more exotic, like a cupronickel alloy?? I've always wondered what is used.

Yes Rob...They are water cooled, double walled, and I understand that the material is a copper/nickel alloy. The riser and elbow are one piece.
