  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
Any idea where I can find where this is located on a 53MY? It used to work fine, but I went to verify all the systems and sure enough I can not hear the solenoid "clicking" when I flip the switch...

on mine it's in the genny room, aft bulkhead, center, half way bet. port and stbd banks

It depends on the year. On our 1980 it's in the port eng room in the large panel that also has the engine master switch and the house master switch.

What might it look like...???

Maybe like this? It is the gold colored one on the right. The smaller one is for the starter solenoid I believe. This is the kind of access problem I was talking about in the other thread. I also posted a photo of it there in #18 like Scott said. Also here:

I find it interesting that the wires feeding it are black!

You might have a blown fuse. The power to your toggle switch is most likely fused.

Hey, that's my panel. :)

You betcha! I stole your photo several years ago when I was trouble shooting my problem. I wasn't sure if I should credit you or not. ;)

This project is still vivid since I lost a lot of knuckle skin and got a lot of aches and pains from the replacement.

No credit necessary. I just saw it and I thought it looked familiar. I took that right after replacing all of the big Guest battery switches.

Here's a pic of mine you have to push the button below and to the left of the toggle sw. I think the toggle was supposed to be 2 position maintained but its momentary so you have to hold it over and press the button at the same time you hit the start button.
