Every time I visit this forum (almost daily) and read the technical threads, I either learn valuable new Hat related info or see something that causes me to reconsider things I have done or are doing. Can't overstate how valuable this has been to me and I have been boating for over 50 years.

WRT the sandbox, I enjoy hearing what others think and don't take any of it personal. I don't go to any other forums, and do find it interesting to hear what successful people (i.e. Hat owners) think about things. Karl's market "gloom and doom" a two years ago made me re-think some investment strategies (got out of stocks with the DJIA around 14,000, and saved me from huge $ losses), so I for one don't mind the "off topic" stuff as long as it remains polite, constructive and doesn't tke away from the technical (or cause issues for our great sponsor).

Thanks to Sams, the moderators, and all the members for this great site which reminds me over and over that the Penn/Dutch have it right when they say, "too soon old, and too late smart".

Best Regards, Bob K

I just figured out how to use the ignore feature on this forum. Maybe that could be the answer to many of the issues which have been raised on this thread.

Seriously folks, this ignore list thing is really great! It even works on PM's!!!

All you have to do is go to "User CP" at the top of the page, and click on buddy/ignore list. Then it's just a matter of typing in the name(s) of those who you really don't want to see posts from. PROBLEM SOLVED!!! You just get a nice little message that this person is on your ignore list whenever they post.

Oh yeah, if you don't want to read anything else from me, remember to type in three e's in Freeebird. :D

My last post on the subject, I promise. Looks like there is one small glitch in my theory. :D

Buddy / Ignore Lists
To remove a user from either the Buddy or Ignore Lists, un-tick the box next to their name and click the 'Save List' button.

To add a user to either list, enter their name in the empty boxes for that list and click 'Save List'.

That only works until you change your screen name again. If you post under Sparky1 or something else, we would have to add more names to the list.

I have been very happy as a member of this forum and have learned more than I thought I needed to learn. Again, I want to thank everyone for that. I even felt I was making friends with people I've never even met and was able to broaden my horizons through the experiences they shared.
Lately however, it reminds me of the tough times during my last divorce. That got smoothed over eventually with a little respect and maturity and I wish the same for here.

Most of the members that left were actualy Randy. Dont worry we will soon have a whole bunch of new ones.

There are many good contributors and good guys along with a few vinegar+water members.

That's funny. I have enjoyed Randy's, and all his other personalities, contributions and sense of humor. As for the vinegar members, it may be because I work people from across the "personality" spectrum in my business, but I've found that beneath the facade of the gruff or impatient people there is a warm human being 99% of the time. It may take time to see it though. I have seen it in the quality of the helpful posts in this forum.

I don't know why but, I see an arguement coming on. Everyone go to your corner and come out swinging at the bell!! jj

This site for me is a great place to see the fun, and pain now and them, that others that have a Hat enjoy, or regent as in the pain part.

The one thing I can't quite get is if you are reading something don't like, stop reading. I don't think it's good for you to get all worked up about someone’s opinion.

And on the topic of opinions, this site is based on them.

One of the common connection is the opinion about the Hat product. Passion is the one word that likely best describes the visitors hear.

It's also likely that the visitors to this site have passion about other things, and in most cases I think they are taking the time to share their passion. This might be a good thing, or as I said above stop reading.

I'm fond of the site and the staff that make it happen. Thanks for the effort!!

JM

I'm still here. I can't speak for Mike P or Mario, although I'm in touch with one of them off line. But I haven't disappeared. I may be old, but I'm not THAT old:)

With my boat out of the water, and inaccessible due to the three feet of snow around it, and the fact that I am trying very hard to finish building the GT40 I started ten years ago, I'm not doing as much with boating. What I hope to do is finish the car, or most of the hard work on it, this winter and spring, and by the time Blue Note goes back in the water, I'll actually be able to spend a lot of time on her. That would be nice. It would also be totally different from last year, when I did hardly any boating. Although I did finish the structural repair to the rear bulkhead that I'd begun the year before. Not to rush it, or anything.
