Scott,

I hear you are the Victron guy to get ahold of around here.

I recently purchased a 53' Hatteras and was intending to put a 48v Victron system on it to be able to survive on the hook a bit better.

I struggled to find a Victron dealer (Ft Myers area) and finally was put into contact with Bob Everhard with emarine systems who pretty much told me that it can't be done and a/c can't be run on batteries. He suggested a 24v system.

I was looking at 2 large quattro inverters
Lynx distribrution w/ smart shunt
8 x 25.6 Victron 200ah batteries which would = 51.2v 800ah bank (40.960kwh)
Autotransformer
various other pieces to complete the system

My theory is it would be possible to run the 110 & 220 systems on the hook with a couple of hours of Northern Lights 20kw generator usage.

What are your thoughts on this? Possible? possible but not smart? or go to a 24v system?

Thanks!

-Chris
We have just purchased our first Hatteras and are working through a few things. First the vent fan in the forward head is inoperable. Any idea on how to access the fan motor? Second, location and access to the horn compressor? Thank you. 43 DCMY
Oh his name was Sean Silverman and he’s a disaster to be avoided at all costs.

Hey there SeaEric
I want to thank you for the pic you shared with me on the windshield support. I have a 1970 that I will be doing a lot of work on to bring her back to glory. What do you have for your drive line? I dove on the boat last week gave her a cleaning found I will be replacing rudders and props :( was curious about what yours is running
I grew up in Morehead City, NC and my father was a ferry man from Harkers Island who came from a long line of commercial fishermen. Salt is in my blood line but I chose a path to serve my country - 10 years in the Air Force and almost 20 now in federal law enforcement. The water is calling me and I tend to retire on it. The plan is to eventually set up base camp in New Bern NC for the summer and winter in the Bahamas and ports in between. I am here for the knowledge and camariderie that each member has to offer. I look foward to the day that I too can share my knowledge with you. Thanks for stopping by.
Bob,

I had them done at Slane Marine but he is no longer in business. Sorry I am only seeing this PM now.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Tom

We'll take any help you can give us! Just bought a 1974 convertible and it hasn't ran in 8 years... Yikes! So bring on any knowledge :) Thank you!

Hi all,
Have a question about bilge discharge thru-hulls.
Anyone know what the thru-hull hose sizes are (original thru-hulls)\
1965 50' flushdeck motoryacht.
I'm 140 miles away from boat and want to replace all pumps and hoses upon me return to the boat.
Thank you.
Just curious, I looked again at the YouTube video tour of your boat. Are you docked at Port City Marina? That's where we will be docking.
