Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
As I was washing my boat today, drinking a few beers,it occured to me that those of you in the frozen North have it made. Your boat is safe and sound and all closed up for the winter.
I am having to run the A/C units at the moment and will be leaving the dock shortly for a few hour cruise with friends. And look at the money you are saving on fuel !!!!

I'm headed your way in a couple of hours, you made me homesick for Floriduh.

I'll see you in about 8 hours. Leave the light on and have some Goose in the freezer, okay?

The biggest problem with being here, in the Panhandle, is that its neither nice enough to boat or nasty enough to really have to "put it up".

So we deal instead with a 3-4 month stretch where you don't boat much, but you don't winterize either. And that, my friends, is truly the worst of both words.

Well. we may not enjoy that kind of weather, but we don't get as many storm surges and hurricanes, either. And our boats blister less, because they aren't in warm water year round. Not that any of that is much consolation on a day like this when it's fifty or above, the sun is out, and the Bay is flat. A perfect day for boating- if I just had a boat here.

Well, I was working on the boat in the barn today while it was 50 degrees and sunny outside. Everytime I took a break and came out of my cave, I got to look out on the lake which was flat (not with ice, either) and wish I left the boat in the water. I know, winter will eventually come as it always does, but this December has been like spring for us in Michigan this year. Kinda weird.

It's only 90 days away, but who's counting. :D

Wow, I'd better get back to work. Too many projects and so little time. :D

It was 55 and sunny here today in Ohio......Thinkin about heading to PIB for New Years. No ice on the lake and doesn't look like we are gonna get any this year either.....could make for some low water or Erie this spring!
Happy New Year!

Last year on Jan5 we left Chicago and it was 65F on the lake. When we were abeam of Washington Is. it was 20 and a white-out. 20 miles north and we were bustin' 2 feet of ice. Next day on the St. Mary's river we got stuck.
Sault Ste Marie that night it dropped to -20F! The fog froze in the air; CREEPY!
Sleep well knowing yer boat is snug as a bug in a HATT! ws

This is mean... :)

This is alittle farther south of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I too have vague recollections although i still can conjure up the sweet smells of Coppertone suntan lotion and pina coladas. ;)

Went down to the water after pulling my props and it was flat 50 degrees 3 boats out  but it was not me  . Oh well it will be here soon it will be here soon soon...... And for you guys that just had yo RUB it in :p

Although the hatt's now a camper, the topaz is still running. I was out thurs., fri., and sunday. Diving of course, 50 degrees on the bottom. Fifty degress on the surface, a nice winter so far. Bill

I think Connecticut was moved to the Carolinas this year.

Happy New Year, everyone!

While I am in Michigan, my Hat is in Florida. This Friday we are leaving to spend 2 months on the Hat. Eat your heart out SKY.
By the way, the last time I saw a warm Christmas time like this, it snowed on Easter. We still needed our winter coats well into June. Sure hope ma' nature doesn't duplicate that. This also won't help our already problemsome low water on the great lakes.
