Boat hauled last Saturday, bottom paint time. They took it to the clean out pit and sandblasted the bottom and gear the blocked it. It was to have been done by yesterday so I took the day off to go over and wax hull and put her back in the water. Well they did not do a thing other than put 4 gouges in the sides from the slings. Gouges go all the way throught the yellow Awlgrip to the white gel coat, about 12x12 each.

Did get to clean her up and put 2 coats of Awlcare on her and did minor trim tab repair and inspect the bottom which is in excellent shape. Then went down to the docks and visited Bob Norris aka Wild Bill. He was at work which is just a few slips away from his boat/home. He is captain on a 2001 60 which he has whipped into shape. He was changing the oil in the engines yesterday

Well a bad situation has wosened. The yard hired a contractor to repair the paint. they masked and sanded and sprayed a color that is not even close to FLY. THen claims they were going to color sand and buff and they will be all done. Well I came unglued, was not pretty. Got so mad that I had to drive away and go down the road and just sit for an hour and cool off. Was riding the Harley so did not want to ride mad.

Boat now has 4 horribly miss matched color spots that are now about 24" x 24". Not to mention the fact that you can not color sand and buff awlgrip. Voids warranty and ruins surface.

Went home and filed claim agains our hull policy and got a denial same day. Turns out damage caused by Marina etc. is excluded. Also marring or scratching of the hull is excluded.

Brother is going over today to discuss the issue with the yard. also the yard manager called me this morning and agreed that it looks like crap and they will do what ever it takes to make it right. Well, the fact of the mater is the only way to make it right is a complete hull repaint. Must be sprayed since it has a spray job on it now. They cant spray in Pt Canaveral as it has been banned.

Well since they said they will do what ever it takes then I will hold on to that glimmer of hope that it will be done right, somehow.

Steve I feel your pain, that just sucks!
Good Luck with it!

I saw that yesterday and boy did it look like chit. Good luck! What is the wait going to do to your bottom paint?

BTW....How did the water blassting come out? If ours does not sell before Fall I was going to have them blast it. I just do not want them blowing out the barrier coat....

Sandblast of the bottom went fine. Makes a mess even with water, Sand everwhere but easy enough to clean up.
