  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
45' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1984 - 1992)
After reading almost all threads about 45C & 46C, this is the boat I want and I am looking for the following:
45C or 46C without tower, preferable from the eighties but any year will be considered.
Preferable re-powered or recent MOH - engines should have at least 3,000 hours before MOH.
In good shape, continusly maintained and updated.
I will take the boat to Panama (Central America) so it must be on the east coast, preferable Florida but it can be further north if the price can justify the extra cost.
Price range 80-150K, depending on year, engines, overall condition.

Let me know if you are planning to sell or know about a boat for sale.

I plan to travel and see interesting boats in February-2015 and if I find the right boat take it to Panama in May.
 
Not a Hatteras but there's a real nice Bertram 46SF in St Pete., Fl. Send a PM to captddis if interested. The boat is owned by a friend of his and Dave has cared for it for many years.

Thanks Jack. For the time being I have only Hatteras 45C & 46C on my list. If it get hard to find the right one, I might look for other brand although I am not in a hurry.
 
There are a couple of these boats for sale on this forum that are in your price bracket and located appropriately for you. I'd look at them really closely. They might be what you are looking for.

Thanks Jim. I have gone through what is up for sale at this forum, Yacht World and Denison Yacht sale. Some of the boats are on my shortlist and I have been in contact with the owner or broker. Still there might be somebody that are up for sale but not yet listed.
 
Good afternoon. I am a Canadian who lives full time in Panama City, Central America.
Not long ago I sold my 52 up on the Great Lakes and will be looking for a motor Yacht
to bring to Panama. Wondering if you would be interested in sharing information about

Here's my comment:

You would likely be best served by calling the boat's listing broker directly. That boat is not Denison's listing. It merely shows up on their search engine along with every other boat on YachtWorld as that is how their site search is configured. If you call Denison they will know nothing about that boat at all. They will call the listing broker and ask all the questions (ask me how I know this) and then call you back and relay the info to you.

I would encourage you to look for that same boat on YachtWorld and call the guy who has the listing.
 
I'm pretty sure there is a 45 with QSM 11 repower listed on yachtworld that is in Maryland. I think it's being offered by a broker that is on our forums. I'd definitely consider it if I was looking. The list looks nice.

Right. I have seen that boat up here in MD and she IS nice.

Yes, it is really nice and seems to be well taken care of.
My only concern is I would prefer one with 2 heads as I will do some charter and the location will almost double the distance to Panama.

If you want a 45C with two heads you will have to look at the 1989 or newer model, or a Palm Beach Edition from 1987, if you can find one.

I have a 1990 and love it. Like you, I had it narrowed down to a 45 or 46 but always leaned toward the 45. The main reasons were, the 45 is nearly 10 years newer than the newest 46, and most importantly the larger cockpit of the 45. The 45 has a much longer cockpit with a lot more space between the Chair and the Tackle center. I would have been happy with either but I'm glad I found a nice 45. Some people say the 46 rides just a touch better, but if that's true it's very negligible and I couldn't really tell the difference. To me they both ride great and are two of the best in this size class, the only boats comprable are the 42, 43, 46 Bertrams'. The cockpit though I could very easily see the difference which was a big selling point to me. If your going to use it for charter I think the extra space will make a huge difference in the overall comfort of your charter guests and crew. Most of your time is spent fishing where cockpit space is valuable, Not Running, where that "maybe", slightly better ride plays into the mix.

I don't know if you've ever had the chance to ride on one or not but our 45 sits on the 15th Street Canal in Fort Lauderdale. It's the first canal north of Port Everglades and an easy 5 to 10 minute Idle to the Inlet. If your ever in Fort Lauderdale and want to go for a quick ride let me know. Even if I'm not in town, my friend that takes care of it for us would be happy to take you along. He does a few mile loop up along the beach, and out around the anchored ships to let the motors run up every 7 to 10 days.

Anytime, I'm always looking for an excuse to go out. When we're there we typically go out every other day even if it's just an intercoastal ride to troll the marinas or to visit one of the many places to go for dinner. Bahi Cabana is a favorite. Nice slips, good food, good price, music, and just an overall good atmosphere. There are many so called "nicer" places but for a simple night out, soup and a Blackend Mahi Sandwich it's hard to beat.
Only problem is with both my kids in school now, it's become harder and harder to find time to slip away, even for long weekends. We do try our best though.

Thanks Tony, I will take your invitation if I have a chance to go in February or March.

Main reason for prefer a 2 head option is to separate guest and crew head during overnight charter.
If I go for a 45 or 46, at the end it will come down to what is available when the time comes for the purchase. Engines and general conditions of the boat will be more important than 45 or 46, 1 or 2 head.

The other day I found a Bertram 46 with QSM-11 660 hp, 3 stateroom / 2 head. A little bit to much for my private use but excellent for the overnight charter.
Not so much information about the Bertram as for Hatteras on the Internet. I appreciate if someone can give some input about advantages / disadvantages compared to Hatteras.
 
Forgot to say, the Bertram is a 1982
