On my 43, there is wood trim between the dodger board and the deck. 2 years ago i removed it to refinish it while i was still using the boat. When i went to re-install the trim there was a bit of soot inside the bridge deck . I was glad I put it back.IMG_0519.webp

Thanks Guys for feedback, think I will go to deck this time around. Currently don't have rear enclosure so the soot was never an issue, but sounds like it could be (station wagon effect) with one. Sounds like good piece of advice for eze2bme's design consideration.
 
sg, steve at sams told me the earlier model 58yf like I have had a gap at the bottom and the top of the dodgerboard. in the later years they had a track attached to the deck and the underside of the rail that the dodgerboard fit into and was caulked. it may be the same with your model. as for the corner pieces being 2 sheets glued together, I have heard of people gluing 2 sheets of formica together for dodgerboard
