  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
48' LRC (1976 - 1981)
Two or 3 years back, I replaced all the forward and aft facing fixed windows on our 48 LRC with new Solex safety glass. Decided these needed to be light tinted for operational visibility. Now I am getting ready to do the side sliding windows. Currently have the same Solex in the sliders, with mini blinds on the inside with some trim drapes to hide the ends of the blinds. Considering darker tint glass with no blinds, more Solex with new blinds, etc. Been many years since I did any "decorating" so I am requesting ideas from those that have current ideas or projects that they have done. And, yes I go to the boat shows where all the current thinking is on display, but for some reason I just never look at this stuff. Your help would be appreciated.

I have a 43DC. I have a light tint on all the lower helm glass windows and none on the helm fronts. I do have snap on black cloth screening on all of the lower aft windows. I don't drive from the lower helm. In the salon I have dark one way vision tinted glass. I also have vertical blinds the full length for privacy at night.

I am looking for a 3/4' minny honey cone blind that has a 3R value that can match the angles on '72 48 YF . I made mistake and went to home depot wasted 3 hrs and then 2 weeks waiting for the order after i paid and was assured Bali blinds could make the cuts needs for the salon side and forward windows

Suggestions on any brands the Make the shape? budget is $2k thx

Pete,
I just tinted the boat. Went with no tint on the front windshield, 20% light passthrough on the sides and dinette, and went with a replacement plexiglas for the aft salon that matched real well with the 20% tint throughout. 20% is pretty dark for up North, but we love it. Not as dark as the newer Viking window colors. THe tint guy recommended 40% which is more typical in our area, but not as dark. Real Happy we went with the darker 20%. The A/C's are much happier- we can actually use the thermostats on the A/C's now. For blinds we are going with custom Hunter Douglas that roll up into the wood valences. When their up - there invisible, when there down they fit. Check with you local carpet and blind store for pricing.
