  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
I have reviewed a ton of the repairs that have been completed by fellow members, and they are very impressive DIY projects. I am in need of some loose estimates or recommendations of professionals for a 52C in need of repairs to wet/damaged decking under the pulpit that is believed to be localized to a area of just under the pulpit to slightly behind it. I just had the boat surveyed and I don't want to proceed without a idea. Thanks, Eddie

I’ve looked at these posts also and am grateful not to have had this problem. This is a structural area that takes a considerable amount of stress from pulling anchors and using the bow cleats. The repair needs to be done right. It is far more critical than some random deck area.

I'm doing a similar project. This plus two spots on the gunwales, each about 5' x the 8" width. My dockmate owns Boatworks of South Windsor, Ct. He is supplying me the materials and some good advice on the project. He told me that it would be somewhere between 10k and 20k to have it done by his shop.

I was looking at a 50C on the East Coast (West Palm area) that had the same issue. I was quoted 30K to do the job. The owner wouldn't budge on price and it needed other stuff as well so I backed off. I am currently doing a similar project on my flybridge. I am down to the painting and probably have a grand in materials in it, including the Awlgrip. I have countless hours and have been working on it during all my free time since New Years day. I have at least 2 - 40 hour weeks in it right now. I can see why they charge so much. I am also removing the screws that caused the mess and glassing in the seats and console

You can see the old holes that are hidden under a newish pulpit and a new hole aft of the pulpit currently in use by the new windless.
