Here is the 53MY sans flybridge from the back of the first 53 brochure:

I don't think there is a better test of good design than time. This picture was likely from 40 years ago and the 53 has just as much class today as it did when she was launched.

The 53 could be modernized without the running shoe look. Changes in the window supports and some of the angles would make it a modern version of the classic. Also the addition of the bridge and an arch. Like the Rolls a bunch of small visual changes over time (evolution) kept the brand image and value.

that's what some of the early 2000s MY still looked like. modern, yet they hat that classic hatteras look.

unfotunately, all of them had one major flaw: ridiculously small aft deck and swim platform.

this is a modern classic hatteras motoryacht... it has a SHEER LINE! not just s straight deck, or worst, like more and more boats these days, a reverse sheer

Pascal,

That modern "classic" sure looks good. Proof that they can tweek the lines somwhat while keeping the same general profile. Unfortunately they directed all their attention to the large models and forgot everything from 40' to 60'. I wonder how well the 70' MYs of current vintage have sold.
