Speaking of the 48MY, has anyone here had an opertunity to see the one in Keemah Texas? It has an ask of $190,000, and is stabilized. There must be some issues with the boat at that ask. Curious if anyone knows anything about it.

It seems to me that if these last couple of 48 MYs have been on the market that they may very well have some issues, however since they only made about 3 doz Series I 48s your don't exactly have too many to chose from. The chances are that they will need something but you may be able to get one at a price where you can afford to sink a few more $ and make it yours.

I'm torn between the 43DC, the 48MY & the 48CMY. I like the looks of the 43, but they didn't have a laundry center in them - Admiral hates to take laundry off boat. The 48MY has a killer aft deck (where we live) but I would love to have the cocpit. It's all a compromise I guess.

Minor as my response is, re: the laundry center, on the 43'MY there is a nice location, just above the genset on the port side against the common bulkhead of the forward head. A combo washer/dryer placed there will not cover up the genset hatch and yet allows access to the flot panel over the head. The CPO (Chief Particular Officer- "do you have to be so particular") would like to build it in and cover it so that the enclosure would blend into the salon. We placed the washer outboard, which leave a 2' space to inboard. So when built in, she would have the inboard space filled with extra storage built in that was accessible from the galley...dishes, pots/pans etc.

This is on a '72 MY.

I thought a lot about the cp version of the 48 too... but you lose the midship stateroom. We have boy/girl children 3 years apart. So, for us, the ability to dump boy and buddy forward, girl and buddy midship made the most sense. And the sundeck...all that room...losing ANY of it just seems WRONG. So, there you have it.

BTW, I was told by Hatteras: 34 were made; yet on the HIN and elsewhere on the interior of drawers, cabnets, etc, I see "48MY 131" which I understand to be a "number in the series" identifier. That'd mean at least 131 of them, rirght? (Or maybe, 131 of the MY and CP versions combined, since they'd be built on the same hull design?)

Clearly there aren't as many as the 600 units of the venerable 53. Oh well. All I can say is "I got mine; so neener, neener...." :p
