To give me adjita (sp). Actually because I have always been fascinated with the water. Now having a chance to be on it fulltime while raising a family is awesome.

JUst think, Where else could you fight a heater issue for 3 years (almost) just to be told to send it back in the middle af a warming trend. Stupid bloody thing needs to be moved anyway so......

Best thing is to see the kidlet get bigger every day knowing that fo the most part the best people are around her.

SO, hurry up with the voting too will ya. And I now have a trip in 2010 to the NW Passage in September... Wonder if I can charter a Hatt to drive?

Okay, noww look in the tech section as stupid heater install pics will be up by Monday.....

Guys,

My friends and relatives are all on notice that I am not available for weddings, funerals, christenings, bar mitvahs or any other non boating activity during the NJ boating season.

Walt

Walt, I gave the same notice to my daughter and she got married July 5 or there abouts. Thankfully she and her husband are now my best friends.

Bob,

Dad burn kids never listen do they. After about a 10 or 11 yr engagement, they recently decided to get married this August. I told them that I may not be able to make the wedding because it's possible that we may be cruising. They just smiled - should I call their bluff?

Walt,

They will call your bluff I bet. Me on the other hand will never allow my daughter to mess with cruising season!!!!! Oh, We were first on the list for the NW next year LOL.

And now back to the heater..... Or your regularly scheduled activities....

Never gave it this much thought. I am therefore I boat..

Walt, find some story tale about April marriages being happier and lay it on them, but my bet is they will do as they please and you'll need to decide how bad you want their relationship with you to continue. Good luck.

Another thought, go on with your cruising plans and rent a car to drive up for the wedding day then return. I assume your son is near you in NJ? The kids and or brides parent's plan the wedding so it ought to be easy. In my case, we were preparing flower beds, trimming trees as well as sprucing the house etc for my daughter's wedding. It killed months.

Another vote for "because I always have". I literally grew up on boats. As a kid...mom would pack me up on Friday afternoon and we'd head to Annapolis and pick dad up at the bus drop-off at the Navy Stadium. Ever weekend from mid March through Thanksgiving was on the boat from the time I was 4 eyars old until I moved away to go to college.

I even made sure I went to a college that had a sailing team...then when dad retired and was going to buy a trawler...I got a loan and bought the family Cat 30 from him.

Anyway...I own a boat because I love being on the water...my One Particular Harbor. Living aboard is so wonderful IMHO. Its like being on vacation every day...even when working...I come home...and I'm on vacation. I'm so thankful I found a girl who agrees with me on that. :)

Umm...ah...yeah... GIRL. First wife hated boats...didn't mind going for a short ride and being a bow bunny...but ask her to do anything other than sit around drinking wine and ti was a big ole NO. Amanda works her ass off on the boat. She has EARNED the title Admiral.

ummm, me admiral works her butt off playing with the kid freeing me up to work on the boat

I guess I'm odd man out here...

Started sailing (sunfish) around age 10...no history of boating in the family really...grandfather had a boat when I was a little kid (crazy batmobile looking thing) around 17' that we took to the water to fish several times, but rarely made it onto the water...many funny stories. Easier to fish on the beach anyway...but I do remember pulling up on oyster beds for lunch with a pack of saltines and some vinegar when they did get the thing to run.

Graduated to Hobies around 14 and took Mom/Dad and their friends with me....The OP (old people) fleet....was the same time OP clothing was popular.

Didn't get a power boat until we got a little place on a canal....small outboard.

Then on Jan.1 2000, right at sunrise, hooked onto a bluefin on a local charter. Got it to the boat for the release and was hooked myself...needed a bigger boat. Found an old Bertam 31 and spent two years tearing it down to the hull and rebuilding it...beat the shit out of us in a 2-3' chop as is always the case heading offshore..so needed a bigger boat....found the Hatt.

I just love the water.

What else would you want to do?

JM

Pete, you own a Series One 36C that you bought nearly new? I'd be interested to hear about it and see photos, if I'm following this correctly. PM me if you have time.

I need to hook in to a bluefin! There is another forum member who told me a story of spooling some 80s. In the process of backing down he ended up ripping off the trim tabs(It was not a Hatt).

This is turning into a very good thread!

Congrat's on finding the right one the second time. I was blessed and found one this first time :) She was even the one when we started doing overnighter & longer trips that we needed a bigger boat!

I have friends that don't have a ADMIRAL ;) Their boating is usally Hell! So then their usage is much less.

Started with wood, Pembroke 26' single screw no options, 26' Christ-Craft twin screw a few options then upgrade up to a 33' Chris-craft twin screw with all of the options. The Boss liked thr third boat but would only spend the day. Then the big upgrade 41dc HATTERAS now we spend all of our free time on the boat and are much happier. the boat gives piece of mind and relaxation in this crazy world
