1) from Kent Island 2) Baltimore 3) the seasonal north south passing thru fleet?

Also, who would like to: 1) tie up for four hours or so for lunch/dinner 2) overnight.

And: would you be more or less likely to visit Annapolis if assured a dock spot rather than a mooring ball/anchoring?

Many people with guests do not want to mess with mooring balls, but will dock and dine. I invite further comments on this.

Two possible locations for very large docking facilities:

1) at the foot of downtown Prince George Street, bending to the left towards NA, but outside of the designated naval anchorage area.

2) currently unused, but privately owned, large ex-Naval harbor docking facilities north of the YP harbor.

A third part of my "vision" is mooring balls for 100 footers in the Severn river.

**Lots of people** are supporting my "creative thoughts", so a bit of energy and hard work may make it all happen.

All of this would turn Annapolis into the Newport or Nantucket top five boating destination that it should be.

I live here, and I think it's a good idea. Right now we have nothing like this, and we could use it. My own observation is that very large yachts seem to end up either at the Yacht Basin, or occasionally out on moorings or anchored out- moorings less likely, as they are too big to be in the mooring area and the swing room isn't enough. They usually anchor out beyond the NA seawall where the corner is.

I like it. I'd enjoy something like that to come in and tie up at.

If you mean the old David Taylor Center, good luck. I have been trying to rent space from them for my cars for YEARS and no luck. Maybe you'll do better, I hope so.

Thanks for your feedback on this. It seems like a no brainer to me. I will send you a PM regarding certain fast moving developments on this.

As wifey and I love to dock and dine, we go to places with a dock that facilitates that. Mooring ball? No way will wife go onto the bow to snag it. I imagine a majority of boaters have the same issues.

Shelter island, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, numerous NY and our own Bay waterfront eateries, small towns on the west coast, etc. etc. ALL have short term transient docks to attract boaters. Mooring balls don't really work for short term tie ups. If staying for a weekend it is worth the struggle/mess, but most power boaters prefer a dock.

A short term tie up dock with plenty of room, would be a huge boom for business in all of Annapolis. It automatically would become a preferred cruising destination for power boaters and their guests who are not berthed here, even local boaters who would like a short cruise to save fuel and impress their guests.

IMHO having a public dock in the center of offerings by a city is always a good thing. It brings in folks that want a nite out with dinner etc..
Even the Rondout Yacht Basin in humble Connelly NY boasts a dock that can take these sort of boats in. The city dock and the maritime museum in Kgn regularly take in large boats.
If Annapolis has nothing of this sort, they are cutting themselves short.

But me? Well, we are stuck in Florida now, and Annapolis will take a return to lower fuel costs and good meds for the wife.

Thanks for the tip about Connelly and Kingston. I will have to google photo/map them.

I have enjoyed reading ALL of your blog, waiting for the book and photos. You certainly have enough materials for that.

Are U heading back to BeeHoms this winter? Your new place looks great, and it is easy to Cruz to the Keys too.

Sorry to hear Deb is not feeling well. Wish her well for us.

Yes, getting Freedom ready now. Actually it would take "feel good meds" :p She's just fine but getting her on the ICW again will take some magic.
